Smile Greetings from the Land of Eternal Air Conditioners!

Hello!

I just recently bought a puppy for my wife & I. Keeley is a purebred "fluffy" Corgi from a breeder in Oregon. And if you want to get technical, she's a sable fluffy Corgi.

I wasn't too concerned about the fluffy bit. We're not going to show her, or breed her. She's just a house puppy!

Anyone ever train their Pembroke Corgi to do those agility courses? We're not going to compete, but my mom and sister have cocker spaniels, and we're all going to have a friendly competition once the puppies are old enough.

Keeley is gonna take 'em down!

Anyways, just wanted to say hello! Everyone have a great week!

Jeff

Why did you shave her? Fluffys are adorable.

Smile Fluffies

Hello Vanette -

We had to shave Keeley 'cause the climate here is very warm. We would take her out to the backyard to go potty and she would start panting like crazy.

So, we took her in to the groomer so she'd be more comfortable!

Hold on , Keeley. Love that pic. I can quite understand why a fluffy Corgi should be trimmed in hot summers. Corgis take to agility very readily - but unless properly trained, don't expect her to be any kind of competition to those Cockers. Cursory training from 12 months, real jumping hurdles etc from 18 months.

Ok, good to know. Thanks!

So the Cockers are considered faster. Yeah, I can see that. Those little Corgi legs can only move so fast.

Still, I'm gonna lay my $$ on Keeley. I used to be a dog trainer eons ago. Our dogs are better behaved and will pay attention to us better than my family's dogs!

We'll still take 'em down!!

No, Cockers are not as fast as a committed Pembroke Corgi. But a trained Cocker is going to outperform, outsmart a rookie or semi-trained Corgi.
