Hello! My name is... =D
hello!
I'm new to forums, and I've never done them before, BUT we are getting our first puppy next week and I'm getting really excited. So, I thought I'd post here and see if anyone has any tips about potty training or getting acclamated to a new puppy who maybe gets homesick. (He's coming from Kansas, so he has to go on a scary plane and stay with people he's never seen before, and I'm afraid that he's going to get scared and lonely.) So if anyone has any ideas or helpful hints, they would be much appreciated! =D |

There is a lot in the archives about shipping puppies. Some of it is scary and sometimes no harm seems to be done. Also a lot of experiences that people have had getting new dogs.
Congradulations on your new pet. Is he a corgi? Pembroke or Cardigan? How old will he be when you get him? Did you name him yet? Good luck and keep us posted on his arrival. |

Hi.
My latest Pem, Taylor arrived by plane at 13 weeks. He was fine but a little subdued and before I and my family could welcome him, the airport staff at the 'pick-up' depot lined up to get in first. I think if he was 7-8-9 weeks of age he would have been far less secure and much more nervous and stressed. At 13 weeks he was ready for new adventures and a solo Corgi eminence. I put a slip chain around his neck and led him onto a grassy area and we started off with a play - that helped to make him feel at ease. Taylor sat on my wife's lap on the trip home from the airport. I'm excited for you. The breeder will tell you what kind of toilet training he has had thus far and I would just continue on for a few days before starting the take out to toilet thing several times or more a day, soon after drinking, soon after eating (one of his three-four meals a day), immediately after waking up, after any extended play, after any excitement factor. Don't allow him a drink up to an hour before his overnight nap.

Hey K,
I saw your puppy pics in the photo gallery. What a total cutie! Congrats on being the newest of us to become owned by a Corgi!
