Hey corgi lovers! -
11-09-2007, 09:24 AM
Hello everyone! My name is Lindsey and I've been a memeber for a few months, but didn't have a corgi. I am moving home and I got in contact with a fairly local pembroke breeder/shower. I found the male red/white corgi I was looking for and put a down payment to hold him. Now all I have to do is convince my mother that I will train it well...I plan on crate training imediately. So everyone keep your fingers crossed that my mom will say yes!

Good tactics. Buy the Corgi pup first and ask Mum second. I want a second Pem in two years and have to convince my wife somehow. Might fo what you are doing. However, in your case I would say that your Mother will probably become the chief minder.

She Said Yes!!!! -

All right she said yes, I can get my corgi. Now I'm just figthing for a name. I thought I'd name it EIN from a Japanese Anime called Cowboy Bebop, but I'm kinda thinking about the name Sawyer. My favorite tv show right now is Lost and of course I have the hots for Sawyer. I think that could work for a corgi! Well I will be visiting the baby as soon as I can next time i'm in Riverside. I'll get some pictures and get them posted.

I think Sawyer is a great name! I am also on Dogster and there are a TON of dogs on there named EIN. Something different is great.

Ein has become a favoured name for Corgis. I wonder why??? Sawyer sounds original and fits in with a sawed-off legged Corgi. Just make sure you're not just using the flavour of the month/moment because taste changes so fast and in three years time or less or more, you may not feel the same way you do now with that name.
Anyways, congrats on achieving your hopes and desires. Lucky Ein or Sawyer,eh.

I think either name is great. Ein is also short for the Welsh name Einion, meaning "Anvil". Not too flattering a translation, but a popular name for a Welsh Corgi.
Looking at Welsh names, I also like the name "Rhys" meaning "ardor, heat of passion"...which I might suggest as a more unique name as well as a great translation for an agility, flyball, or other competitive sports dog.
Congrats on getting your mom's permission. Looking forward to pictures.

I am so glad for you!! I like the name sawyer too!! Do you have a picture of him. I can usually tell the personality of a dog from a picture. Like when I saw Sophie's baby picture, I knew she'd be a brat and that she would be so sweet and give me all the love she could give!!
Sophie's name meand wisdom. I knew she would be to smart for her own good.

I like Sawyer too. My daughter named both of mine. Next one I chose. I wanted to name Cody Peanut Butter and she wouldn't let me. I wanted to spell Cody Kodie but she wanted Cody. Hmmm wonder who the mom is. I like Ein too but there are lots of them. Still a cute name. Very popular for corgis but I haven't heard of Sawyer. I can't wait for pics. It's fun to watch everyones puppies grow on here.

Well I thought about it and I think Ein may be hard to enunciate half the time. I've decided to register him with AKC and I will register him as, "Stablemate's Sawyer," or "Stablemate's James Ford" which is Sawyers real name from "Lost." I like Sawyer. I was at a grand opening of a Petsmart Pet's Hotel and I heard someone say their dog's name was Sawyer, but I haven't seen a Corgi named that. We have a winner!!!!! LOL! I will be visiting maybe next week. He should be 5-6 weeks then. I'll get some pics up ASAP. He is a cute little red/white with a very thin white strip going up his face. He's going to be gorgous when he grows up!

LOL, I'm getting close to 30, the only thing mom will do is let the puppy out to go potty. I'm not the kind to trust others too much with my "babies." I work in the pet industry. I sell products such as The Furminator deshedder, Vittle Vaults air tight storage containers, Canine Caviar Pet Foods, Petsport USA, etc. I travel and work a lot but after Sawyer gets a little bit older I'll take him with me to get him used to the car and many places he'll be around.

You can be three or thirty three or sixty three, but mother knows best. Really speaking, it takes two people to make an excellent fist of bringing up and caring for a Corgi.
I am trying to convince a dog products supplier in New Zealand to stock and sell furminators. The company has never heard of them until I told them a little about their recommendation through Go Corgi.
I could do with a couple of large dry food containers. I have a year's supply of Pro Plan dog food and am due for two further 17kg bags next April.
