Mission

Hello my name is Jen,

I am brand new to this corgi form. My Mission is a corgi cross terrier, we've had her for about 11 years now. So she definitely getting into her "granny" years .

When we first saw Mission we could not say no to taking her home. A family friend had just been camping up north with her family and her two dogs when they came across this homeless, abused looking, starving dog in the bushes. The family didn't really know if she had belonged to anyone since she was in such bad condition, the woman told us that Mission was most likely abused since she was so afraid of men and she only had one eye. So the family decided to take her home on their last day there.
A few days after they had arrived home, my mom had gotten a phone call from her friend telling her how they had found this dog. Since my family was looking for a new addition to our home we decided to go and see the dog. Once we saw her we could not say no, she just seemed so cute, despite her being so timid. A name for our new addition?? We couldn't think of anything too good. So we named her Mission, where the woman that found her lived.
She loves going for walks, car rides, and her family oh so much. She still a little bit cautious around some men though.
Needless to say we brought her home and cleaned her up, but she was still so very timid. She'd hide every chance she got.
But 11 great years later Mission is doing great!

Mission is sure fortunate to have found a missionary in you.
Talking about not liking men. My Pembroke Corgi, Taylor has great affection for anyone ill, handicapped etc. Yesterday we visited a friend and she had a guy also visiting who was outwardly fine apart from a wobbly walk, but inwardly unwell from damaged lungs (he had fallen from a roof 12 months ago and was lucky to be alive). Taylor picked up the vibes of this fellow who wasn't enamoured with dogs, and made a huge fuss of him several times whilst ignoring me and my friend. He has done this kind of thing on a good number of occasions in his four years. I think Taylor won the poor guy over.

Welcome Granny, I love your story about getting Mission. I also enjoyed Michael's, of how Taylor reacts around ill or handicapped people. Most dogs would be leery of unusual looking humans. Like when Duchess growled at a couple of "gothic" youths.

Jen-did Mission ever totally get over the timidity with time or does she still exhibit some of those traits? I asked because I have a three year old tri who is still timid and very cautious although I've had him four months in a different environment.
