Hello. Room for one more? - 11-16-2007, 01:59 PM

Hello everyone. My name is Erin, but you can call me Freppan too. I absolutely love corgis- they're probably my favorite animal of all time! I'm here to talk about them and share stories, experiences, the like.

Unfortunately, there is one rather large problem for me. I have not yet owned a corgi myself. I've done so much research, I'm like a walking corgi encyclopedia, and I have the resolve to take care of a young puppy, but my mother has not allowed me to have a beautiful companion of my own. I've never even owned a dog, and I feel that I have not yet lived. I just keep telling myself to hang in there. Someday, no matter how long I have to wait, I will meet the dog of my dreams and we will prosper together! YES!

Until then, I must drearily wait. I waste the months in school and eagerly await the day that I, too, will have a little corgi companion.

Keep your chins up and your tails (stubs) wagging.

Someday, I'll be with you, dear corgi!

Welcome Freppan,
they are great dogs. I don't really know how I lived before my cardi, Nick. Good luck with your corgi addition...someday...

Thanks for handling my dramatic intro. :P

And I'd like to mention that as amazing as cardis are, my heart has an empty space that perfectly fits the shape of a pemmy. I'm happy to hear about your corgi, though!

Someday, I'll be with you, dear corgi!

Have you ever spent any actual time with corgis?

Yes, I have, actually. You sound a little apprehensive- did I do something wrong?

You must start a campaign on your Mother. It's Mother 'attack' time but subtlely and over a concerted period. Prove to her that a Corgi in the house will work out fine and it is really what she would enjoy if not love. Corgis are not dogs - they are something else. I read six short stories based on my Pem, Taylor yesterday to a young audience at a large public library and Taylor was simply adored by the children and adults. A Corgi can have this kind of affect on a wide spectrum of ordinary people.
You sound as though you have what it takes to give a Corgi all the care and attention he/she needs. But you certainly need the co-operation of your mum. Corgis are an easy little creature to raise and provide for.

It was just a question.

What age range are you in and does your family not really care for dogs?

Debbie- I am fourteen years of age. My mom likes dogs, but she prefers cats.

I had my first corgi when I turned 16 and it took me 22 years after she passed away to get my second corgi, so just hang in there. I always knew that I wanted another corgi. It was just not feasible at the time to get one sooner. So, 2 years after my husband and bought our house, I saved my pennies and nickels to get Duncan. My husband never had a dog, he is more of a cat person, so he said he wouldn't pay that much for a dog.....but now, he wonders why I waited so long to bring a corgi in the house! He said I couldn't have brought in a more loving and intelligent dog for his first dog. They are buddies, in fact, Duncan became more of his dog than mine. They are constant companions outside and Duncan really protects him from me giving him hugs. LOL

Hi Erin...I'm Vannette..Welcome! I saw you wanted a corgi. Good choice. I wanted one for years also, just was waiting till I wasn't working so much and had a yard for one or 2. Read about them just like you did. Have you met any yet? My next one is going to be rescue.

That's funny, Lou- I'm glad your husband likes him so much!

Hi Vannette! I have met corgis. My aunt even has one. I've babysat him before! Good luck with the rescue corgi.

Oh, I'm not even close to being ready for another yet. My 2 are 2 years old and they are more than enough for me. I wish you were closer you could share them with me. My daughter is 17 and she doesn't help me at all and that wasn't the agreement. I bet your aunts corgi just loves to see you. They can tell when you like them.

Oh! Well, I wish good health on your current babies. I'd love to visit them if I had the means, ha! Maybe your daughter needs to start keeping her word!

And yes, her pup is all over me when
