Hi Bob
That Murphy thinks he is one of the boys (human) is great - but don't ever tell him the truth!. My Taylor made me sad and sorry that he wasn't a boy when he would accompany me and my then seven year old to school each day and help pick him up in the afternoon. Taylor desperately wanted to stay in class with my son and learn what he learns.Taylor would look at me and his body posture and his eyes would tell me "why aren't I going into the school room, mixing with the other students, taking lessons and having fun." He thought he was at least the equal (and still does) of my son, Nathan. It took a while my pup to understand that generally speaking, human schools were not a dog thing. But happily we did reach a compromise. Since those days, Taylor has on a number of occasions stayed in class for an hour or so at various schools and pre-schools as part of the "deal" that he stays if I give a little talk to the class about Corgis and dogs in general. As well, him and I started agility at a training school just after he turned two. And he loves that including in being able to mix socially with other dogs. |
