Hello from Cold and Snowy Iowa! - 02-28-2008, 09:26 AM

Hello! My name is Sherilyn and my husband Rus and I live in the suburbs of Des Moines, and are owned by 5 Corgis (4 Cardigans and 1 Alpha Pem). We are also parents of 2 (2) legged girls, Bekka, age 24 and Courtney, age 13. We show our Cardigans in AKC Conformation, and Duchess, our Pem (rescue), has her RN and CGC, and Ruby, our oldest female Cardigan, has her International CH and CGC. Our only boy, Phantom, is an International and AKC CH, and is working towards his CGC, hopefully this summer. The other 2 younger girls, McDreamy and Emmy, will also be training towards their CGC's in the near future. We are also hoping to work with a few of the kids towards their TDI's.

Rus and I belong to the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Association (CWCCA), Central Iowa Kennel Club, Northstar Herding Club and the newly formed Upper Midwest Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club.

To support our "habit" , Rus works for the City as the Network Administrator for the Library, and I am the Pharmacy Pricing Specialist for Hy-Vee Corporate.

If you'd like to meet our "kids", you can see them all at Winjammin' Corgis.

I'm looking forward to catching up on the posts on here and getting to know you and all your furkids, too!

Thanks for letting me join!

Welcome Sherilyn! Nice to have another expert on the board. (And I am not including myself in the "experts". ) Looking forward to hearing lots of stories about your crew! Nice web page, BTW.

LOL Thanks, Chris...we're definitely not "experts", but still learning every day! I don't think we'll ever know everything there is to know about Corgis...just when I think I have a grasp on something, it changes! That's what makes these breeds so much fun!

And thanks for the compliment on the website, but I have to give the credit for that to the hubby. I'm just there for color coordination and ideas. He'll be logging on here as soon as his application is approved, so you'll hear more from "Winjammin'".

Thanks again! Have a great day!

Sherilyn

Oh goody---you're here!!!! Welcome!!!! I know you'll enjoy the forum. A very diverse group of corgi owners, or should I say owned by corgi humans.

BTW--for those who don't know--we show with Rus and Sherilyn, alot! Live about 2 hours, or 4 1/2 depending on the weather, from each other.

Hugs to Boo from Marg, btw ;0)

Thanks, Cindy! And thanks for inviting us to come play with everyone here!

I'm sure Boo send his hugs and slobbers back to Marg! He can't wait to "help" her this spring!

Wish you were going to Columbia with us! We'll miss you!

LOL thanks!! We had a good time at the sheep show! Our Midwest group is a bunch of nuts, and we love it!! We all try to get together as often as possible. Rus & I host a Corgi-Q in September during the Des Moines show, and we usually have our annual Chili Supper during the January Des Moines show. We may have to rethink the timing on the January dinner, as that's our kennel club and we end up working TOO many hours at the show. We'll have to possibly look at moving the chili supper to the February Des Moines show, since most of the group come in on Saturday for the 1 day show.

Cody and Katie are cuties!!

Oh don't forget the Iowa Corgi Frap in July, the October Show site dinner, then there's the March picinic at the Dewitt shows......

Humm, seeing a pattern here, food and corgis? And, everyone is welcome to the events. Corgi owners, corgi wanna be owners and other breed owners-mini bullies, frenchies, smooth foxes, etc.

Which reminds me----we need to set a weekend for the Iowa Corgi Frap!
