As a journalist, I was told to only use the word 'awesome' in extreme circumstances because there is nothing left bigger than awesome to describe anything that might supplant what had occurred.
So now you've used 'awesome' with Oliver, I'm afraid that word will stick with him for good and no matter how much better he becomes, he'll never have a bigger word to be described as. Tough.

If you're anything like me, don't wish him to 'grow up.' Puppies should stay that way for ever.

Welcome to the site, and don't worry about Michael. If you want to describe Oliver later on when he is bigger and better, you can just say he is "super awesome." By the way, he is a real cutey; aren't puppies adorable?!

Shila,

welcome to the site - I am sure your Oliver is awesome now and I agree with Jeni, you can later say he is super awesome. That is great that you feel that way about him right now - no matter what Michael says, describe him any way you like.

Michael, I think she could use "Superb" , "magnificent" or "remarkable" in the future and that may top "awesome"

Linda

Hey . there is no word bigger than awesome at present. But a new word will be invented one of these short days because the word has become overused. Not my fault. So what do we do for now - place words in front of it. Yeah. Super awesome. Super duper awesome. Awesomly awesome.

Who read Charles Dickens where Oliver asked for more. "Our" Oliver, sans Chila, need ask for no more. He's got the lot!

Nikki,

I agree with you totally!.

Michael, I still say that if I was describing my dog to someone and said he
was Magnificent versus Awesome would have more of an impression, just
my opinion though.

Shila - I agree with you - Oliver is really 'awesome'. I am constantly 'in awe' at just how delightful, and what a clown Abby can be. I am sure you are wondering just what Oliver will be like when he grows up, and that will be all too soon.

Michael is just teasing. This is our peculiar Antipodean sense of humour which, I am told, takes a bit of getting used to. You would not believe how much we Aussies sling off at the Kiwis and vice versa.

Just tell Michael (Kiwi), that as a Journo, he needs to smarten up on his Typos - no Proof Readers here - he he he.

Katc - Awe gosh, typing has become such a chore with the keyboards I have got. I bash down on them, so half the letters have faded away and I am not a touch typist. I learnt to type the hard way - two fingers and belt it out. But that way you have to concentrate a liitle on the keys and less on memory. So I keep puting i's and o's and r's and e's etc where they aren't suppose to be. Sorry.
You may not believe this - but I have been a paid editor and proof reader.

Shila,

Please dont take it personally.... I think all of us at one point or another have been insulted by Michael, he seems to take joy in it, and considers it funny, which I dont see anyone laughing.

I think he's taken on the role of the school yard bully of our "Awesome" website.
