I have been in touch with a few of the members, but not so much. I met afew of the PWCC members at a dog show that I went to recently, and we are waiting for her pups to arrive but other than that, I haven't been talking to many of them sadly >.< |

Be sure to go speak and talk to the corgi folks (are you interested in a Pembroke or a Cardigan?) whenever you are at the shows. Sometimes they'll need an extra hand to go back in on a dog, you can volunteer to do that and hold dogs. That will give everyone a chance to get to know you, see you are serious and open doors for you. Debbie |

Right now, I show my Siberian Husky, but he has alot of faults that aren't really good for the breed [his tail curls up when he jogs and his hips aren't that good] so we're in need of a new show dog, and he's the only dog we have at the moment, and my mom is telling me that we could do another breed instead. I'll also keep that in mind new time I'm at a show. [the next one is later this moth, but I'm not entering with him] And thanks for the advice

Hi Briani
You'll have little trouble finding a Pem breeder in your part of the USA, but you'll have to be lucky along with being canny to pick up a conformation champ. As long as the first intention is for a 'pet' the other will be a bonus. I have had six Corgis with two of them show champs, one other a very likely champ except that he sustained a brain tumour and one I onsold a couple of months after taking her onboard. The champs were part of the days when Corgis and conformation shows were at their zenith in New Zealand. |

Oh wow! Why did you get rid of your female champ?
Yeah, it's been a hassle getting a good breeder down here, but I'm still trying! My mom said that if I pay for gas, that we might be able to take a roadtrip to the other breeders out of state [if we find one that we trust] in the summer so that I won't miss any school ^^.I like challeneges so, I will always give it my all when I'm showing[and hopefully my dog will too] and one day we'll be on the top! xD |

Welcome Briani, I'm Vannette with Katie and Cody and we are over here near Seattle. At least you are getting in some good practice with your Sib and I bet he's having a really good time doing this with you. He probably doesn't even know he's got all those faults....just watches you with those adoring eyes. I love how the dogs do that. How old is your dog?

Briani - it's not only in locating a 'good' breeder because with good breeders with champion Corgis along with lesser breeders and lesser conforming Corgis you still need a large element of luck in trying to assertain if a 7-24 week old puppy is going to turn up trumps. The two male champs and the one would-be male champ that I have had were all from casual breeders. The two males not to become champs were from regular and rated breeders and had excellent backgrounds.
The female Pem that I onsold was a puppy who had a faulty gait that wasn't going to improve much. |

IF showing in Juniors is the primary activity, then it is possible to find finished dogs a breeder might want to place. That is how my nephew broke us into the show world. A breeder had a finished b*tch, she'd had a couple of litters and was needing a home and people of her own. My nephew showed her in Juniors and did very well, plus he also showed her in breed. She taught us the ropes, opened doors and interests and she is the beginning of everything.
