Hi from Tiny, th' good ol' boy from Texas! - 05-13-2008, 06:35 AM

Hello - Tiny and Mom LynAnn here - we live about halfway between Dallas and Amarillo in a SMALL town (one traffic light...). Tiny is 4 years old, and our first Corgi - I joined not only for the new buddies, but I do have several questions about Corgi behavior which I'll address later. Meanwhile, all you fluffypants out there have a wonderful day!
P.S. You can meet Tiny at Dog profile for Tiny, a male Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Always nice to see more Texas corgis. I'm in the DFW area myself, in Carrollton. The site helped me out a lot when I was getting started with Roscoe. Your dog is gorgeous!

Welcome, I have a question of my own. Do you shave Tiny every summer and how does it grow back in the cooler weather? Is it as full as a usual corgi coat would be? Do you shave close? In the dogster photo it doesn't appear to be very short. Jane

Tiny's Summer Haircut - 05-13-2008, 09:42 AM

Hi, and thanks for the welcome! No, the groomer doesn't shave him close to the skin at all because of the danger of sunburn (ya know, down here in the not-so-pretty part of Texas it gets MEAN & HOT...) and it grows back really thick by fall - I'll try to post a recent photo later today; he's got that "parade float" look right now where his hair nearly covers his stubby leg-lettes. Time for the Lion Look again!

Tiny's Ear - 05-15-2008, 05:56 PM

Thanks for the nice words! Yes, his ears both stood up properly when he came to us at about 8 months old, but the longer he stayed with his brotherdog (Otis, a beagle/dachshund with the same ear challenge), the more Tiny's ear "drooped in sympathy." Oh well...I'm not going to breed him, and it gives him more character!
