Corgi Reiji finally is in home

Reiji is hyper-active puppy, he is energetic even after 12 hours long fights journey home yesterday night. I am panda now that he refuse to sleep all night(jet lap) and cannot adjust to climate here. In new zealand is only 5 deg but now in singapore is about 33 deg. He is heavily panting every moment, hope he gets adjust to it soon.

just laded with brother Odi to another family.

Thanks all, He is a very happy dog. When I meet him at airport and call out his name, he will respond well an keeps looking at me. When I first hug him, he give me a kiss on my face and I am so happy.

He is so energetic and does not sleep at night, we are losing sleep for two night. For two nights, he will wake up at 3 to 4am and want me to play with him. If not he will yell and shout. Because that is the times in New Zealand which is able 7 to 8 am, while he will wake up and play. Maybe have to put him on sleeping pills.he...he..

And morning when I wake up, my living room is full of shit and urine. During the day, he will do his business in the newspaper but sometimes he will do in anywhere. I hope all of you can share with me how to train him to do his business in correct place.

<3 puppy! We've been with you through Benji's loss and now the excitement of Reiji's entry into your family! Congratulations! =D

No sleeping pills! He'll adjust within a few days! =D

I HIGHLY recommend crate training! It worked for Buster, he hasn't peed inside the house in weeks! =)

Beautiful Puppy, Congratulations.

I agree, get a crate to help potty train him and have him sleep in it at night, otherwise you will have messes in your house just as you mentioned. If his breeder didn't use a crate with him at all, he may protest in the beginning, but stick with it; it will help.

If you do a search, there are quite a few threads on here regarding crate training.

Shoot, I've had litters that got me up at 3 am because they were wrestling. It's pretty normal. They have to learn your schedule.

When does he sleep? Have you tried playing with him before bedtime so he's tired? Also he might need a potty break at 3 or 4 am. So maybe get up and take him out and then put him back to bed. NO play time at that hour though. He needs to learn it's for sleeping.

He has to adjust to the time change.

He needs to be sleeping in a crate or an exercise pen. That way he'll learn to hold it and go outside when he needs to go potty. I'd work on crate training him.

There is lots of advice in various threads on housebreaking and crate training. One thing to start with is get him on a schedule and TAKE him outside every 3 hours or so. When he goes potty where he should you praise him A LOT.

Get an enzyme cleaner to clean up accidents inside.

Hi all, thanks.

Reiji is doing better now, will wee wee in the newspaper. But he still poo in the living room.

He had adjust better to the weather but still panting and sweat frequently. He sweat so much that the jaw is so itching because of constant sweat coming out. I just wonder is the heat or gum aching because of teething?

He is progressing well with Happi, intially Happi did not like him and wanted to fight with Reiji. Now she seems to accept him, Reiji always follow her and want to paly with her but Happi just walk away. We have a video here to show:

If a Corgi puppy can't make you smile and be euphoric, you're hopeless. Don't you just want to hold him all the time? Congratulations on your new boy!! Give him a big hug for me. I'd love to have a puppy but don't have the energy to keep up with them.

How old is he?

He is not sweating. Dogs don't sweat like we do. They can only sweat on the pads of their feet. So he's not sweating on his face. He's drooling. Drooling can come from excessive panting. And he may be panting from being hot. Could be teeth but more likely heat. Do you have a fan? Air circulation is the key to keeping a dog cool. Also how about a wetting a towel with cool water for him to lie on if he wants. (As a puppy he might think it's a play toy.)

Reiji looks like such a jolly, happy dog. Are you going to get training classes for him?

Is he doing better sleeping at night yet?

Are you going to buy a crate for him? He will probably be potty trained at least a month faster with a crate than without! =D

How hot is it inside your place? Maybe he will get used to it, but maybe try to keep it cooler for him while he is still very young.

The video with Happi is hilarious. She's really not having him yet, but she will probably accept him in time. =)

He is a happy boy but a bit scared of strange places. And when I bring him out for a little scroll in the park, he will walk a little and refused to moved on with the leash. Please tell me how can I do with it?
Yes, I am enrolling him for a puppy class to make sure he can walk better with leash.

yes, he does not wake me up anymore in the night. He is a good boy, even he wake up in the night, he will entertain himself with his toys and do not disturb us anymore.

I did not get a crate but he is doing better now. Sometimes will wee at the newspaper. He is still so young, i am going to give hime sometimes to learn.

Over here all years round is above 30 degrees celsius. May to August is the hottest month, may go up to 36 degrees. But he is adjusting well to the climate now, no doubt still panting sometimes. Now he is constantly with the little fan that Benji used it for 14 years. This fan is with sentimental value, it had been used my my nephew in his younger day than it was pass to Benji. That is Benji favourite item and now become Reiji's favourite.

They are getting a little bit closer now but Happi still don't like him like the way she loves Benji. Happi is totally stress out by this little boy.I am prepared to give them some times to grow to love each other company.
