Hello

I have 3 corgis and 1 swedish vallhund. I also have 4 cats, 2 guinea pigs and 1 rabbit.

Elle is my 12.5yr old vall. She is really sweet and kind.

Sarge is 4 years old, nbt, total mummys boy and sook. He loves to please and does whatever he is asked.

Ziva was my second corgi. My first fluffy and the dog who owned my heart. She died september 08 at just 15 months old and it was the worst day of my life. I still cry and miss her so much, no dog will ever love or be loved like her. She expressed so much with her eyes and seemed wise beyond her years. When we got her I thought she didn't look like a 'proper' corgi and I wanted a different puppy in the litter. I told myself she had to bond to somebody else in the family because I wasn't going to. Well that didn't last long because she picked me and that was that.

Daina will be 2 in May next year. She is on the smaller side of the standard but she is TOUGH! She is my little pocket rocket and has more than enough energy to burn. She is incredibly loving and becomes a quivering mess of excitement when one of her humans comes home. I think she knows that we needed her after Ziva died, she knew we were broken and so she just gives us so much of herself.

Then there is Muddy! He is a red headed tri, fluffy. He is a big boy and loves to snuggle. He has a great temperament and is very gentle. He and Daina are best friends. And yes, he does live up to his name!

Mud is 8 months old

Those are my dogs! Sorry the image sizes are all messed up.

Wow, looks like you've got a great bunch of dogs there. Interesting that you have a Swedish vallhund with the corgis, as they look so similar. Does the vallhund do any corgi-type things, like lie on its tummy with its feet flipped back, or sleep on its back?

So sad you lost a dog at such a young age. My wife and I lost our beloved little tri-color Molly at 5 years, and that was really tough. How tragic that your little Ziva only lived 15 months! I am glad you have the others to keep you company.

G'day and Welcome!

Welcome Muddywaters and your beautiful brood! I still marvel at how grand technology is and that we can share info instantly across the globe. Simply brilliant.

So, so very sorry for the loss of your fluffy Ziva. Her picture is a vision of complete sweetness and joy. Our pets steal our hearts and shower us with utter devotion and constant companionship ... and ... when we lose them are hearts are broken and we miss them terribly. You will have a special place in your heart that will always belong to your beloved Ziva.

Golly, gosh have I gotten an education today! After seeing the pic of your lovely Elle, I did a bit of research for myself and now know that the Swedish Vallhund breed is a type of Spitz and that some recognize it as the ancestor of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Wow ... and ... double-Wow! And to see your Pem and Vall in the same pic really puts things into perspective for me. Ta.

Australia has a particular lure for me. I have Irish ancestors who immigrated to your wild and beautiful shores long ago. As of yet, I have not had the privilege to visit ... but surely will one day.

I really look forward to many more pics and dog tales from Western Australia.

Sorry for the loss of your beloved Ziva. It's never easy but especially hard when you've given heart and soul, as it sounds like you have. May the fairies guide Ziva to open fields.
Welcome to GoCorgi! I enjoyed your pictures...you have a very handsome canine family! I have been a fan of the Vallhunds for quite some time. There aren't many registered in the US; is it the same in Australia?
I am looking forward to seeing more of your menagerie! =)

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've been cruising this site for ages but only just got around to joining.

No, there aren't many valls in Australia but slowly their popularity is increasing. About 60 years ago the breed was close to endangered because numbers were so low. Elle was the first vall in Western Australia and is currently the oldest. We've just recently had our first breeder registered in WA so it's all very exciting.

Valls and pembrokes are very similar breeds. A person who loves corgis can easily fall in love with them Elle has never been one to sleep in awkward positions like the corgis do but she shares many other quirks with them.

I will upload pictures of Elle when she was younger (a bit later because I'm on a different computer). She looks very different to how she looks now, her muzzle used to be entirely black and now it's gone white with old age and he coat changes all the time.

I will also post puppy pictures of my corgis They were soooooooooooo cute!

Demanding a belly rub

This one isn't a good photo but it shows how foxy she looked and her gorgeous coat

And some group shots

Attacking the water

Daina 'rescues' her toy dinosaurs from the pool

She swims to them and carries them out and makes a pile somewhere, usually on a chair. After she's got all of them out she gets bored and chucks them back in again.

Okay I can't resist sharing more!

Elle used to be really, really overweight and has lost more than 14 kilograms. She still has a bit more to lose so that's why she's chubby in some photos.

This is AFTER I had just washed her!

She decided she needed a mud bath too.

She would always sit like this

She was REALLY fast and super agile, I was hoping to get her into agility. She would have been fantastic.
