Hello my name is Susan in Upstate NY

Hi all! Long time listener, first time caller! Just kidding!

I'm Susan and I live in rural upstate NY with my 1 and 1/2 year old Pem Tucker. He is a black headed tri, thinks he's the Mayor or at least the center of the universe, and a sweet boy. He loves everybody and tries his best to demonstrate by jumping up and kissing, complete w/ tongue if you don't watch out. We are working on the jumping part, the tongue thing is a lost cause.

Tomorrow our household will grow by one! We are bringing home a 11 week old Cardigan Welsh Corgi I have named Lulu (Visions Be Bop A Lula). Lulu is black and white w/ brindle points. My perceptions of her personality so far is that she is very reflective. She will sit, carefully observe, then make her move complete with little black tail/w white tip wagging away! Of course, when treats are involved - it's every man for himself. She's ruthless.

Tucker is my first dog. We have managed pretty well (he's still alive, hasn't mamed anyone, has passed Puppy K, Beginner's Obedience, and Beginning Agility). What has become clear is that he is not meant to be an only dog.

Enter Lulu! Hope I will be as lucky the 2nd time arround. I am taking a week off from work to help Lulu get adjusted to her new home. Crate, Canidae (breeder's suggestion), new leash + collar + harness, ID tags, chew toys, pink Kong (yes, pink!),piddle pads, Nature's miracle, and most importantly new X pen are all waiting.

Tuck and Lulu met the other night. A few low growls from Tuck but they sniffed each other then went their separate ways. Neither particularly impressed with the other so very uneventful. Don't know if it's good or bad! At least they didn't snarl or snark at each other.

Tuck's pals Jackie and Rupert's Mom Deb suggested we join Gocorgi. Looking forward to reading and learning more.

I had the great fortune to speak with Deb by phone last night and am pleased to report she sounds like she is doing great following the loss of beautiful Riley. My heart breaks for her and Rupert but I know Tuck will be swimming iat the bridge w/ Riley one day and they will have a blast.

As soon as I can figure out how to post pictures, I will share Tuck and Lulu with all.

Welcome Susan - so glad you've joined!

You'll meet some old friends from Dogster here and some really good new ones - just as I have.

Go up to the top of the page and click on Gallery, then "upload images" and
get those 2 cuties on here!

Hi Susan! SO nice to finally meet YOU . . . as we always talk on dogster as Jackie & Tucker. I know that you will have a lot to share on this site, and everyone will enjoy hearing about Tuck's antics (and Lulu's soon too). WELCOME TO GOCORGI!!!!

Hi Suzan. Great that you came through Dogster's. There are a lot more potential members for us from Dogster.
Seems like you'll be able to tell us first hand, a lot of the different personality traits between Pems and Cardis - at least between your two anyways.

Is the State of New York where Corgis are particularly popular in the USA or is that reserved for California followed by North/South Carolina?

Tuck and Lulu should become great friends. It won't take long but I'm sure you'll give Tuck special attention to help ease the presence of this tailed rival for love, food and time.

Can't wait to see pics of your two and get to know all of you I've been toying with the idea of someday, way in the future, getting a pem so I can have one of each type of crazy corgi, but right now I can't imagine having anything other than a cardi
Welcome to the site and can't wait to hear all about the crazy antics of Tuck and Lulu!

Welcome aboard from a fellow Cardigan owner. The adult Cardigan's tale is really something to behold. I can turn off the A/C when my Ruby wags her tail from side to side.(lol)

Welcome, and best of luck with the second corgi. I got my 2nd corgi almost 2 months ago (he's now 6 months old), and my older one is 12 years old and he drives her crazy but she tolerates it for the most part. She pretty much keeps her distance when she can. Meanwhile the older one has gained weight due to eatting her food and then some of his food, or trying to be teachers pet for obedience rewards competing with the little one. May the skirmishes keep to a minimum. ~Shelly

Susan - your Thread opening remark has reminded me of one of my pet hates: that is callers on the radio to a talkback show, saying that they are a "first time caller." I always think "so what?" - and thankfully some switched-on talkback hosts do too by ignoring the remark which is only what its worth.
So glad you struck a cord, however unintentional.

My husband and I share our home with Miss Montrose, (AKA Monty) she will be 12 in a few weeks, and Dylan, he is turning 9 years old.
