Jemma is Home - 08-19-2006, 02:19 PM

We went and picked up Rupert's new sister Jemma this morning. Jemma sat on my lap and was quite happy to see me. I visited with the breeder while Rupe, Jemma and another of her young dogs tore around the yard having a lovely time.
I kept her in a kennel in the car on the way home so she and Rupe would be calm and she was fine - he fell alseep and she was too wound up to settle. When we got home she had a look around the front of our building and was facinated by people going by and all the activity - she came from the country. She wouldn't climb the stairs when we came in so I carried her up the 3 flights. She came in and in the first 30 seconds met two of the cats - calmly with curiosity - no fuss, no chasing (yet ). She spent an hour just traipsing about with Rupe on her trail and then they finally both crashed. Some friends came up with their little grils and Jemma was all over them licking and very happy.
So far so good - Rupert has growled at her a couple of times - but he's very tired - we'll see how things progress- slowly but surely.

What really great photos! It looks as though Jemma is becoming part of the family already. So glad everything is working out for you so far. Looking forward to the next installment.

I just returned from being out of town for two days and discovered that all sorts of things have happened here on gocorgi...thankfully I read your GREAT news!! How VERY WONDERFUL to see that Jemma is HOME!! (*~*Nikki, I need all your enthusiastic notations and smilies here now!) I LOVED the photos!! Jemma is GORGEOUS and looks like a happy girl! I am guessing that Rupert will be just fine and you will have a harmonious Corgi family when they get to know eachother well!! I, also, will be anxious to hear future installments of the Rupert and Jemma story!! ...and MORE PHOTOS!!

My BEST wishes to all three of you!! (I NEED that 'heart' emoticon!!)

I'll add my $2 (because dont have any cent key )

Good to see Jemma meeting and greeting the family so calmly - Chloe should have been named Tigger the way she bounces onto our Kitty Men! Your black and white looks a lot like our Tubby. He is still not in love with Chloe but today they did manage to lay near each other for a while without Tigger getting carried away...

Here's hoping things keep going smooth

Jemma is lovey! And the pictures are wonderful. (My two have the same chipmonk set.) I am amazed that she was so good with the cats. Rupe I'm sure will show the ropes tomorrow after they have rested.

I am sending you all lots of best wishes that eveything works out the way you hope it will & I am looking forward to reading lots of updates on how they all are doing.

Oh Deb, they look great together! She'll have Rupe wrapped around her paw in no time and he seems to be enjoying his new sister already!

I am thrilled for you!

Deb,

congratulations on your new arrival I love the picture of them from behind by the chair. They look as if they are hitting it off already and that she is tolerating the cats.

Have a fun weekend with her; I am sure you have lots going on.

Thanks for the best wishes one and all - so far so good. Other than house training and teaching Jem how to use the stairs, things are going fairly well.
Took them both to the lake this morning and Jemma followed Rupert right in. She's never even seen water - other than in a bowl before. She had a lovely time playing in it - just inches away from swimming - it will come, but it must be on her terms. She also met lots of new dogsand was just fine - although she was quite concerned about the screaming baby in a baby carriage - can you blame her?
She's still loving the cats and my eldest (14) is letting her snuffle her ears as much as she wants. The black and white one (Tucker - Rupe's cat) keeps bathing her and rubbing her and she is just fine with it all.
Rupe's growled at her a couple of times - but even though they both slept all night through, they are both still tired.
Here's some shots from this mornings adventure at the lake.

Great pics, they seem to be tolerating each other very well.

The water is so clear, it must be nice, our lakes are so polluted where I live.
