Hello there to all Corgi lovers,

I am very new to all this internet communication and really need to beg your patience with me....I am self taught and at 60 (!) this has not been easy.
I have just come through a major depressive episode and as part of my cognitive behaviour therapy, I am trying to communicate with people all over the world, who have similar interest to mine.
I recently had the experience of my beloved 12 year old corgi, Tessa, die in my arms from a heart attack whilst walking her on the farm where I live in the country. Although it was a wonderful way for her to go, it was traumatic for me, but also VERY special since I was able to hold her close to my heart as she put her little paw up to my neck and died.

What a loss for me! However, God has been good and I am coming to terms with the loss of a great friend and companion. As soon as I figure out how, I want to post my tribute to her with a picture.

I now have a tri-coloured corgi called Taffy. He is still a pup (7 months) but already such a delight.

Regards,
Marge.

Oh Marge! How sad! I am getting all teary over Tessa! Please do post a picture of her (and of Taffy) as soon as you can! The only thing we like better than talking about corgis around here . . . is looking at pictures of them! And if you are looking to communicate, you have found the right place!!! Welcome to GoCorgi - we look forward to getting to know you!!

PS - South Africa! How exotic!!!!

Marge,

My name is Linda and my Pem boy Cody, is 9 months old

So sorry to hear about your loss with Tessa; must have been scary to have that happen on a walk; with no one to probably help you. Truely sorry to hear about what happened. I had a Pem recently pass away this past December, so I know how hard it is; although it wasn't in a situation such as you experienced.

Obviously, all of us here are Corgi lovers; we would love to hear about Taffy and would enjoy seeing pictures of both of them. Many of us are still learning how to use certain features on this site; so hopefully there will be some more experienced people to help you if you have questions.

On top, they have something called "Resources" and if you click on that and the click on F&Q and scroll down to the botton, you can find another thing to click on which is called vBulletin F&Q and click on the headings below that for some answers to questions you may have.

Again. Welcome.

Hi Marge,

I'm Deb and I recently lost my lovely little girl Riley to cancer at the age of 5. I have her "brother" Rupert, a tri who is 4 years old. Rupe and I have been quite sad and lost since we lost Rile, so we just picked up his new "sister" Jemma who is 7 months like your Taffy.

This is a good group of folks for you to hang out with. They were wonderful in supporting me through Riley's brief illness and passing. I know what you mean about being with Tessa when she left this world as I held Riley in my arms as she peacefully left us.

I hope that you will post photos of both Tessa and Taffy soon. I haven't been to South Africa, but spent a couple of months in Kenya and Tanzania years ago and loved it.

Welcome to GoCorgi,

Hello Marge,

I am so sorry for your loss, as many have stated what a tearful story. When I hear of other people's loss of a corgi I think how will I ever cope.
Mine are Darci 2 1/2 and Egan 5 months.
We are thrilled to have you join us and our corgi family, cant wait to see pics.

Hi Marge
I'm looking forward to the All Blacks rugby 'B' team beat the Springboks over this weekend so it is great to be able to welcome in a new member from South Africa.
There is a fluid population of Corgis in Southern Africa - it is one of the strongholds of the breed outside of Britain and North America.
I had the pleasure of having a seven month old Pem named Taffy stay with me for a few weeks quite recently.
My last Pem died of a heart attack at age 15. Sorry to hear of your loss.

Hi to all my friends at GoCorgi!
I haven't posted for a while, but today I managed to place another picture of my Tessa (whom I lost recently) in the photo gallery of corgis.
Thank you to all of my new friends at goCorgi, for responding to my initial posting. I have only just now found your replies! (weeks later!!)

I do find the web site rather difficult to navigate my way around.....but I am learning and it is just such a joy for me to communicate with other corgi lovers around the world.

I have found it fairly difficult to find corgi breeders in South Africa. It seems to be a breed that no-one wants to part with....i.e. unless you too are a breeder! How sad that people in this country (S A ) by and large only want to sell their pups to other breeders!! (I don't breed with them!)

Anyway, I have my Taffy pup and I had to fetch him from far away in another town in South Africa....he is now God's gift to me and Paddy, my black labrador.

Till next time,
Marge Alberts

Hi Marge,

If you have any questions about posting or how to put photos on threads or anything at all, just ask - someone will be more than happy to help you. Glad you got your photos up in the gallery.

Hi Marge -Tessa was trully beautiful and Taffy looks the goods too. I'm sure that there is a reasonably strong presence of Corgis in Southern African countries. But you would know of the Corgi clubs in South Africa as points of contact.
A lot of South Africans are emigrating to NZ and only last Friday, I met a guy who only arrived here a month ago and his nine year old son came over to play with my son. They had owned two German Shepherds in South Africa and their last one died shortly before they made the move to NZ.
There is even a (Dutch) Reform Church and school in the suburb I live in. My Pem, Taylor and I have visited the school several times - the last occasion, was a professional visit where we spent an hour talking about dogs in general and Taylor in particular, and meeting with the entire student population.

If you join Dogster < www.dogster.com > you'll find over 20,000 Labradors who are members of the site.

Hi Marge - I'm so glad you found this site - there are so many nice people who all share your feelings and emotions and care about you. I too read your post with tears - I have two tri-color Pem boys, Oliver and Skippy, who are absolutely the loves of my life. I'm also about your age and found myself fumbling around on the site, but it's not too difficult after a bit and everyone is more than willing to help. So welcome to the site and enjoy!
