Hi Marty
Congrats on your new Corgi puppy. House training is the number one priority and it pays to be consistent and patient despite any adverse weather or a slow reacting Corgi. If she makes a mistake don't over-react or scold her severely. Puppies must be given allowances. Never hit her with anything and never scream or shout at her. Training her to handle a lead can start now. I have always used a chocker chain - a short, very lightweight chain. So my Corgis have almost never been collared. Get her to socialise with people and other animals. The more people who handle her, the better. And pups love plenty of attention . Pups up to six months should be on four daily meals, then reduced to three for the next three months following that. Breakfast should be a human baby cereal with non-cows milk. Give her additional calcuim in tablet or powder form. Start teaching her the basics at 12 weeks - which are sit and stay. Groom her gently daily. Grooming is a great skin stimulator for dogs. There are lots of other things but that will do from me for the present. |
