I finally got a Corgi!!!
I am now an offical corgi owner!!! We got a beautiful 10 week old tri Pem girl yesterday. She is so sweet. She was the last of the litter and the owners had started crate and potty training. She know "NO" and "come". We have named her Molly. I will post some pictures as soon as we get them on the computer. I have enjoyed this site so much and have learned quite a bit. Any words of advise on training, I would love!!

Katherine!
Congratulations. I bet she is wonderful. Enjoy these first few weeks because they go by so fast. Looking forward to seeing pictures and watching her grow! Susan + Tucker + Lulu

Congratulations!!! And my advice is the same as Susan's - enjoy her, take lots of photos, as it will be mere months that you'll be saying I don't remember what she was like at 10 weeks!

To echo Susan and Deb - enjoy her and relish her puppyhood! On a more "serious/constructive" note
- it isn't too early to start laying down structure for her and being a strong alpha/leader. Those cute puppy faces can be the downfall of many a strong human. <LOL> Be patient, don't expect too much too soon on reliability training wise. Be consistent in things. Pick up shoes, pillows, books, clothing - all temptations for curious, exploring, chewing puppies. And keep a rolled up newspaper close by for those moments when she has to go potty and you're in just one more minute mode or alternately when you've kicked off your shoes to enjoy her frap and she absconds with one into another room. At that point, you bop yourself with the newspaper to remind yourself - it's your fault and she's just a baby. <LOL> (That was in all jest - just so there's no misinterpretation. ) Looking forward to pictures. Katherine,
Congrats on your new corgi girl! Molly is a cute name. Corgis are so wonderful. I think i say the same as the others, take lots of photos and enjoy every moment with her as the puppy stage seems to fly by! I agree with Debbie that you should start training immediately and let her know who is the boss from day one! One thing i did with Dillon was set up the rules ahead of time with my hubby so we were both on the same page and were consistant with our training. oh they are so much fun. congrats again, what a fun journey! Starting training early is definitely important. I started from day one with Jackie. Especially make sure you teach her not to be possessive of things like food. It's SOOO much easier to teach that to a little puppy than to a grown dog (less dangerous too!). Also, it's easier to get them used to brushing their teeth and handling their feet / trimming their nails when they are little.
Poor Jackie . . . I'm always touching her, messing with her stuff, taking her food away, giving it back . . . she never gets a moment's peace!

Katherine - a warm welcome to Molly Malone for sure. And I bet she is a beauty. There is an Irish pub (bar) in Wellington called Molly Malone and it is one of the jolliest places to visit late at night for a beer and a lively Irish band. The only three things you need teach a little Corgi is come, sit and stay. And Molly knows two of them already - so the stay is very easy as it follows on from sit.
