This is one of our favorite times of the year in Houston. Friday it reached close to 90 and called many old friends in Chicago to, um, well...rub it in. Today however, we've had a cold front and with the low in the 50s this morning we've had a fire going in the fireplace (yes, it is to warm up to 70 this afternoon--brrrr, but we have to grab the feel of winter when we can).
Seriously, we do miss the change of seasons and plan to hike/ski in the Cascades in Washinton in December for some snow and family visits. Too bad Buddy can't travel with us--he's vacationing with Grandma and Grandpa that week. |

Linda--I remember years in Chicago with 70 below zero, nothing between me and Lake Michigan's ice crystals propelled by the wind tunnels...then a warm front! 40 degrees! we'd all go outside in shorts and enjoy the "warm" day--nice to visit, but...

LOL you can always tell who has just moved to CT from the warmer states, they are bundled up in a winter coat , gloves and a scarf when it is 50 degrees...I love it, It is actually 55 degrees today- and yes I was in a Tshirt when i walked Dillon earlier.

It is quite funny to see all the kids going to school in their big winter coats when it is a frigid 55 or 60 degrees outside! But then again, when else would they get the chance to wear them. It did actually snow down here in deep south Texas two years ago on Christmas day. It was our first snow in over 100 years! Since that was Bethany's first year down here I think she might have got the wrong idea.

It is very cold here today and Cody wanted to show off his new sweater. He tried to bite at the collar at first, but once we got outside for our walk, he didn't seem to mind that he was wearing one.

Cody looks cute in his sweater.
I hope nobody on here has been adversely affected by the snowstorms blowing through the county! We have just been chilly. Thursday morning was windy and cold...wind chill in the low 20s. Hey, don't laugh - Andy's had to wear her sweater every morning and night.

Blue is definitely Cody's color!
It's 41 here. Yesterday the winds came and blew away our 70 degree weather ...sorry Linda but I will take this over 18 any day. However in sympathy for all you Corgi people who live in the cold cold weather I have beef veggie soup simmering on the stove - ya'll come on down

I agree blue definitely has to be Cody's color. He looks quite charming in that sweater. We got that big snow storm sweeping through here on Mon-Tues this week but really only got a couple of inches of snow at the apartment. However, we are really paying for it now. Our highs are not predicted to get up to freezing again until Friday of next week. Being from Florida's gulf coast the winters were a bit of a shock my first year here... but now I dress and feel just like the regulars... even in the 20's I was just wearing my regular jacket and nothing but a t-shirt under for walking Checkers in the morning. I have to admit if we end up back in the southeast one day I will miss having 4 real seasons.

Thanks for the compliments on Cody sweater, the bottom was all dirty when we got home, better that, than his tummy. Deb, I am a soup girl, so I am on my way - keep it warm for me. We love the Wisconsin potato cheese soup here(I know not good for the heart), but once in a blue moon - it is soooo good Cheryl, It would be hard for me coming from a warm climate to adjust to such cold; however, I do like the change of seasons. It seems that the older I get, the more I dislike the winter months. I did live in Nebraska for 5 years and it is so windy there, that was hard for me to get used to - there is rarely "good hair days in Nebraska". Last edited by corgimom; 12-02-2006 at 11:40 AM. |
