Zend takeover bid
Some of Go Corgi members couldn't get into this site earlier today unless they joined Zend - who is a host provider. Zend were offering a free service along with a range of paid services. Zend is a genuine web developer based in Germany and is Java code compliant.
Zend came into the picture perhaps because the Go Corgi owner's code registration had expired. Less likely is that Zend somehow muscled in or that Stephen had allowed Zend to promote themselves. It is a worry that with Go Corgi building up so rapidly and being one of the most successful sites of its kind anywhere on the internet and in having a dedicated following, that so suddenly and totally unexpectedly it could go on the blink - kaput. Here is a though - perhaps there needs for someone to keep a secondary address folder just in case. Last edited by Michael Romanos; 11-09-2006 at 02:49 AM. |

There were many of us trying to get on with the same response last night and I had emailed Michael Also. I was not going to try and download anything. I had tried to "chat" with a person in regards to Zend to find out what was happening, but I could not connect with anyone either.

I agree with Michael. This matter should be throughly investigated! My initial response is that any change on this website should have been brought to the attention of the members well in advance through this forum. I also refused to download any information and would like our concerns addressed.
This is a great site and we enjoy it. Zend at the very least should apologize for trying to "slam" the members here and a report should be filed with ? the Better Business Bureau? Stephen, please address this issue soon. Thanks! |

Just thought of something: I think that it would indeed be a great idea for someone(someone we all trust, maybe you Michael?) to keep an address folder of every willing member's email address , because one day if we are all shut out, and decide not to download, then we will all have to scatter to the wind, and I hate that thought when I have only recently found this site. A mass email could be sent out alerting everyone to the problem and give options. OR, we could make a mass email list of willing members and distribute through private message, NOT in an open forum, so we will never loose touch. This is something that we obviously need to address quickly considering that we may be locked out tonight! I have visited some of the other Corgi sites and have never even cared to join, so I hate the thought that we may loose this one.

OK I have no understanding how the inner workings of a web site like Go Corgi runs. Michael are you saying that because Stephen didn't re-register a piece of info saying he still owns Go Corgi with the mysterious Web People that a different company has the right to claim Go Corgi, change it or disband our site? How can we stop this from happening - or is it too late?
By an address folder you mean someone who would keep all of our home emails together in case the site goes away they could contact us and we could start a new web site under a different name but could still be together? That would make for a good precautionary step in case this Zend comes back.

I agree with Miss Gambler's Mom. Linda did an excellent job last night keeping everyone from panicking (namely me)

Bonnie,
Remember awhile back(I think you were on here) when Go Corgi went down for about 4 or 5 days? - I seriously thought it would never come up again and when it did, we were all posting how sad we would have been if that would have happened. I had to join Dogster at that time, just to send a message to Michael to find out what happened. MissGamblersmommy, I think your idea of having a file of the email addresses is great for those that want to do this. |

I don't understand why Stephen didn't re-register whatever it is he supposedly owns, why he didn't address this problem immediately with the members and why he isn't addressing it now.
A lot of us have our personal email addresses on this site for other "members" to use - are they secure from companies like this?

To answer your question, personal info goes with the site, wherever it goes.... and this issue should be addressed, and not let us hang in the air, or loose each other, because I will not download/upload into any new system blindly, been burned that way before. The owner of this site should have placed a CONTACT US button on this site like every other site on the internet. Just posting a letter in the DROP BOX, and hoping that it gets noticed, is not the way to run this site.

I am glad for Linda too, if i had gone on and seen that i would have freaked out- so glad that i was informed of the problem before i freaked out- I hope that we could have a joint email file or something - I would hate to lose touch with the people here...

It would be nice if when we log on and the site is down or messed up for whatever reason, there would be some general message to us as to why or that "they are working on fixing the problem" At least that way, we would know it "has been acknowledged" and are trying to get it fixed.
Not sure how they would do this. I am sure once Michael reads all these posts, he will see what he can do about it.

SIX DEGREES OF CORGI:
I'd be happy to share my E mail with a responsible party. But it got me thinking... my immediate reaction was to drop Deb or Jessica a note becaue I communicate w/ them via Dogster. How many of us conect w/ others on the site thru other avenues?

I would be willing to collect a list of everyone's personal email addresses- then save it as a pdf and distribute it to whomever was on it and wished to have it. I have a lot of folks email addresses from when I did the Corgi picnic photo.
