Artos,

I can say OUT to The Girls when I have the door open and usually they will run our together - mostly because they think there is food involved or they want to play in the yard or both LOL.

But I can't count on them both doing it every time - mostly Emma.... she is a stubborn little beasty If there is bad weather - rain or cold involved I have to push her (sometimes literally and figurally) to go OUT

Hi Tandemgal,
I understand that the canine actors in that movie were tops in their obedience class : maybe that's why they were so good about following the actress' commands. But they were certainly a joy to watch! If it is fun to see the two of yours play together, it is more fun to see the 5 of them playing.....Have you seen the movie yet?

Anyone else seen the movie?

Yes the Queen's ownership of Pembrokes has contributed greatly to the popularity of the breed worldwide. No disputing that. However, if certain parties would step out of their fairytale ivory tower once and a while ... sheesh.

Quote:
If they (successive Corgis of the Queen's) were generally poorly behaved, badly disciplined, unwelcoming, in-fighting, terribly raised and cared for, they would not have influenced Pem Corgi ownership like they have.
They have especially on the Queen's home turf if you will. More often than not when members of other corgi lists visit England and talk to people hoping for a corgi siting, the usual response is in line with what Artos was told,
Quote:
She told me that the Queen's corgis are not as well cared for as they should be nor as well behaved.
Within their home country, the Queen's corgis have highly influenced the breed's reputation as nasty little beasties. She has appeared more than once in public with her hand bandaged due to injuries she sustained from corgi bites when she tried to break up a fight. One of her footmen or butlers was fired for giving the corgis booze. On trips from Buckingham to Balmoral, the royal limousine is known to stop at parks along the way for royal corgi potty breaks and the Queen doesn't carry poop bags with her much to the locals dismay. And yes Bonnie, one of the Queen's corgis was killed by one of Princess Anne's Bull Terriers.

This is not rubbishing the Queen nor her corgis nor how they are cared for. These are just facts that can be found on mainstream news wire reports, not Hollywood-type rumours. It might help to take out one's rose colored contacts.

I have all respect in the world for the Queen as a political figure and world leader. She loves the Pembroke breed and she loves her corgis, all very apparent. However, she is pretty much in the same boat as the rest of us corgi owners, she's human - we ALL make mistakes, could do more training, have our dogs behave bratty at times, and we love our dogs. I don't see where that is knocking her off of some perceived pedestal.

The five corgis which appeared in the movie The Queen belong to one woman and they were spotted at an obedience competition which she was participating in with them. Corgis do not get that way unless a lot of time, effort and work goes into training them and that is what John Q Public often fails to understand about any breed or dogs that appear in movies or television shows.

Linda wants me to interview the Queen about her 33 Pem Corgis. Yeah, but I don't care all that much as long as her Corgis are fed well and exercised well and receive lots of attention. And I'm sure that's what they get - but not particularly from the Queen who is busy doing what British Queens do and now at 80, I don't think her capabilities are as good as they have been. But here is a better idea than Linda's - lets get Linda to suggest to the Queen that the Queen takes on Glencorgi as a live-in super kennel maid for her Corgis. Glencorg would be ideal as The Queen's Chief Corgi Director - and it will cement British-USA relations well past the outstanding joint peace keeping in Iraq, and Glencorgi could from time to time bring the Queen's Corgis over to Hollywood and have them interviewed by Oprah.

Michael,

I want you to interview her to dispell any myths that are floating around out there that her Corgis are "beasties" - I bet the Queen would be tickled pink to have someone such as your caliber interested in "setting the record straight". I bet no one has offered to do that for her.

Actually, I think you would be better at being the Queens Corgi Butler than Deb would be as the Corgi Director. You could bring Taylor with you and have him mated with one of the Queens females, maybe a Dorgi, and open a breeding kennel in her honor, and then you would be connected to the queen for life. Then the Queen and you could fight over ownership of the puppies on Jerry Springer

Linda - what a great idea. The Queen owes me lots -afterall her face is on the money I have spent ever since I can remember. I see a cunning plot to take over the British monarchy and claim it for New Zealand. Taylor could certainly marry any of the Queen's Corgi girls and the first-to-emerge offspring could be claimed to be a Kiwi and first in line to the throne, supplanting Prince Charles ( who is reputed to be a vegetarian anyway - what Corgi do you know of who is vegetarian). Then I could whisk Taylor and his sons and daughters back to NZ where they can be easily accommodated and reside in splendour at the fabulous Government House in Wellington (where incidently a Pem Corgi did once live with one of the Governor General's). And then. I could offer Glencorgi money she can't refuse (and with Taylor's head on the coins and notes) to be the Corgis own Governess. Mistress Glencorgi could teach them the 10 commandments according to Cesar Millan.

HA! Oprah's show would one of the last places I'd take them and we wouldn't be appearing on Animal Planet either.

Er....anyone seen the movie? Comments about the movie? (or are we not on the movie topic in this thread)? Am more interested in the movie corgis than the Queen's own corgis since I have never seen them on the screen.

Some years back, when the Queen Mother was alive, someone celebrated her birthday with a TV advert showing a pack of corgis barking HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I want to get a video of that short greeting but have not been able to find it. Anyone know where I can view it? Thanks.

Artos, someone else asked that question a while back regarding the Corgis barking Happy Birthday and wanting a video of it. I have no idea if that is even something you could get. I had tried to search back then and came up with nothing.
