I truly felt, and still feel, that this site can carry such importance that it deserves a Mission Statement. CorgiMom is correct in that I had not even noticed Stephen's statement(you'll have to excuse me for that, internet blindness, I guess, I actually have a very high IQ) and once Stephen's statement was posted here I saw just how comprehensive that it is and felt my submission was totally redundant so I deleted my submission. As for the other argument here in this thread, and I don't want to argue with anyone in this thread because I have come to greatly respect all of you, but there isn't a writer alive who would want their words touched, I know this from experience. Michael, I just ask that you think about that, and what your words mean to you. That's all I'll add to that argument.

The question is did Debbie produce a red herring or did she offer as a mission statement, a welcome message from the owner? The judge wouldn't know Debbie from Stephen - so what's the difference? If the judge says that the welcome message is the best mission statement - so be it. We all suppose to know who wrote it. When we get a Mission Statement, I doubt that the sun will disappear never to be seen again - it won't be earth shattering and it will be business as usual, for me anyway as I don't hide behind a few well chosen words, cliques or otherwise.

Michael, I do think you are missing the point...you can't take someone elses words and post them as your own...You deleted out the person's words to make it appear that she was giving you a new mission statement which she was not, she was just providing the mission statement already written by the owner of this site. Not crediting a person for their words or worse crediting the wrong person for words can be viewed as plagerism. What is worse is in this case you changed a person's post to make it appear that she was the one who stated these words, when in reality they were someone elses words. This is not cool unless that person has broken the rules of the forum, using profanity or something of that nature, and at that point deleting the whole post and then PMing the person to advise them why you deleted it is the proper method to do this.

I can only reiterate that the so called Mission Statement from Stephen was not a Mission Statement but a Welcoming Message. If someone wants to use this Message as a Mission Statement then we will see if it succeeds. If a member finds a Mission Statement from somewhere else that is appropriate for Go Corgi, they can use that as a BASIS for a possible Missiion Statement for Go Corgi.
I do not personally hold Mission Statements in high regard. In fact, they are like city or state slogans - expendable, subject to ridicule, and can quickly become outdated or tiresome. They can also be used as a barrier to progress. But it is a bit of amusement to find the most fitting one at the time. I penned a Mission Statement for the Chamber of Commerce that I was Chief Executive of, in looking at a whole bunch of Mission Statements and taking the best from some of them and pieced it together to create the one I splashed about every so often. |

Michael, I am going to have to agree with CorgiMum, at times, you seem to show disdain, even disrespect, to the regulars on here, It may only be the differeces in the cultures(manners and/or tone of speech), I don't know, but it is something that is noticed, and obviously by others, as well. (I would truly like to think that it is nothing more than what I noted, but your recent comment to a new member about the "regulars" makes me wonder.)

Here is the winning Missuon Statement. It is in fact a combination of two:
For the promotion of Corgis generally and for influencing excellence in the care and attention of Corgis. And for the fellowship and support of Corgi lovers. Thanks to everyone who participated. |
