Corgi in Iran
Taylor and I were outside the Cosmopolitan Club tonight in Upper Hutt for 15 minutes and it was amazing how many people coming in and going out of the club stopped to chat and give Taylor a pat - and Taylor gave them all a great hello. Anyway one guy told me that in the 1970s, his brother shipped a Pembroke Corgi to the Shah of Persia. The Corgi was almost appropriately sent on a ship which was exporting New Zealand's first load of live sheep to Persia (as it was called then). The Corgi had his own cabin and a Steward was assigned to look after his needs 24 hours a day for the duration of the journey. So the Shah had a NZ Pem Corgi until I suppose he was deposed and the state of Iran was proclaimed with a more democratic but less Westernised government. I wonder what became of the Corgi.
