A Saturday Outing at Pet Smart
You never know what you may see at Pet Smart. I was there for a while today and marveled and how well behaved and obedient a Weimaraner was walking with his Mom. She would give him a treat real often (I was watching) and each time before he would take it, he would sit. I don't recall her ever giving the command but, when she put her hand in her pocket, he would sit. He came up to me, sniffed a bit as if to say, "do you have anything?". He touched my hand with his wet, cold nose and left after he saw I had nothing...wish I had, he was a sweetheart-light grey with strange colored eyes (to me, anyway).
There were quite a few dogs there today (sadly no Corgis) but, I felt sorry for this brindle colored English Bulldog that had just entered the store. She had hardly gotten 30 feet inside when someone's puppy barked at her a few times and you could see her melting into the floor with her head down and left a puddle in doing so. She was three times the size of this puppy, who was about 3-4 months old but, she showed a lot of fear. That may have been the first time she had been there or at least the first time another dog acknowledged her with a bark. Another had growled at her earlier and maybe this started the incident with the puppy. Still, I felt sorry for her and thought perhaps her folks just didn't get her out enough.

ColColt - You should have been in Johnson City today you would have seen three corgis. Dale went for his very first visit to Petsmart and he mostly rode in the cart. Chip wanted to walk and he had a good time visiting. Dale was a little shy until we ran into another corgi. A five year old female and boy she was fat. Chip did his normal belly up in front of her and Dale wanted out of the cart so I put him down on the floor and he walked right over top of his brother and stuck his little nose right up to her face as if to say - Don't mess with my big brother. Oh so cute. Dale weighs about 9 lbs. She must have went 40. Of course, they both got presents. and we brought Maybelle home one.

I'm always at the wrong place at the wrong time. JC is about 100 miles up the road but, it would have been worth the drive for me.
Corgis are about as scarce around here as hens teeth and I seldom see one up close. I'll bet Chip and Dale were a big hit there today. It sounds like that one female Corgi ya'll saw today was a real porker. She needs to loose about ten pounds it sounds like...too many treats but, it's hard to resist those brown eyes. BTW-how's Maybelle doing? |

Maybelle is doing ok - she really doesn't like strangers or to leave the yard so she stays home. I think she is a collie shepherd mix that we found in a field when she was a pup.
