Been a While & Need to Vent. - 07-31-2007, 12:32 PM

You know, I just get tired of people. Who was it that said, 'The more people I meet the better I like my dog.'? Well, I can relate.

I vented and asked a question on another board and got what I thought a snotty resoponse after the question was answered. Yes thank you, I've been struggling with weather or not to just get my girl spayed but as everyone knows, I can't show her in conformation if I do that. Yes, also, thank you, I know how to keep two dogs apart of different sexes, I just wondered if there was an easy way to do it other than taking one to a boarding kennel for several weeks OR keeping them in a crate constantly.

People insisting on doing things with their dogs that they KNOW Is bad and then ask why their dog is limping and asking if it will cause health problems later F-DUH, yes it will cause problems later, what are you thinking!!!???? Did you tell the breeder of your mastiff that you live up a flight of 75 stairs? Did you ask the vet that tells you to take the 4 month old puppy on a 2 mile walk every day if they knew anything about giant breeds?

Yes I realize that there ARE IDIOTS out there that would have an accident and then say 'How did that happen?'. But, I have also come from a background of more than one breed of dog, neither being altered and one being bred, the other not, one large and one not. I do have SOME understanding of that. BUT, I have to admit that was eons ago, and I was just a child.

I have NO intention of becoming a BYB. IF I ever decide to breed either of my dogs it will be AFTER all health testing, showing and titling of the dogs, all puppies will be on contracts where I would take back any offspring of such breedings. I have studied MUCH. I am NOT your typical 'dog person'. I have studied, and will study more, have researched pedegrees and will never stop learning and will NEVER know it all no matter how much I'd like to say I do.

That being said, I feel a little better.. I'll try to be around more...
Thanks for taking the time to read and letting me vent..

Feel better?

Which leads me to --- I have a question and a vent of sorts. Why is it when someone who is IN dogs and a serious dog person answers a question and treats the questioner as an "equal" in their mode, tone and manner of answering; the respondant gets smeered with the snob label?

At the risk of having the label slung my way, to respond to this wondering: "I just wondered if there was an easy way to do it other than taking one to a boarding kennel for several weeks OR keeping them in a crate constantly. "
Depends on the dogs, some are easier to manage than others, but simple answer is, the only way to make sure nothing oops happens with two intact opposite sex dogs and a b*tch in season is to keep them separated. How one does it and the ease of it depends upon the dogs sometimes, what stage of the season she's in; layout and set up of one's home and one's dog management skills.

Well...is what I did was to put pullups on Katie with little girls panties. I took those clips you buy to hold your sheets on (like suspender clips) that have a clip on both sides attached to elastic and used 2. She wore a harness and I used both on her back. I attached each one to both the pullup and panty. Worked great. I never let her out to go potty by herself (I went with) and never left her and Cody together without me being there. (I have a small house) It was pure hell. I would never ever do it again. Cody was insane. DUH
Now, my b/f wasn't as dilligent as I was and Katie had puppies. I was not happy. We had 3 puppies and they went to great homes and had all their shots except rabies when they left at 12 weeks.
They also were microchipped and left with a unconditional buy back guarantee. They are all spayed and neutered. I keep up with the owners as I loved them so much I cried when they left. I still wish I could have kept them all. I would have had I had a bigger place.
