Free To Move Around the World - 08-01-2007, 10:59 AM

I was wondering if anyone in the has been transfer to other countries and what are some of the rules for bringing the dogs along. I am currently working on an assignment that might require me to move to either Austraila or Germany, depending on which location the product will be produced. The assignment would be for 3 years and I would not want to leave the boys behind. Especially with Molsen being 10 ... 3 years might be too long.

I have heard that some places make the dogs be in quarenteen for 6 months ... I think the US is only 6 wks depending which country you have been in.

Any Assitance would be great!

My nephew and his wife moved to Germany a year and a half ago ..Army...They have a big husky mix and he had his shot record up to date and no quarentine (sp) was required. Hard to guess on this one.

If you want to bring a cat or dog into Australia, you need to apply with AQIS (Australian Quarantine & Inspection Service) at least five months prior to departure.

Cats & Dogs are subject to Quarantine Conditions - at least 30 days after arrival (except those from New Zealand).

This AQIS Website has information packages you can download for your country of origin.

There are only six countries in the world that are rabies free. New Zealand and Australia are two of them. Bringing in dogs from the USA and Canada to NZ requires a 30 day quarantine arrangement but if we sent dogs to the USA and Canada there would be no need of any quarantine.
