How to Talk Like a Corgi - 11-30-2007, 06:51 PM

Charlie just started talking to me. He's on the recliner a few feet behind my desk chair. I haven't translated everything he tells me yet, but I believe he is saying, "Mom you've been on that computer since 6:30 this morning. It's time to sit in the recliner and snuggles me." Either that or, "Take me outside to pee now."

Anyway his talking to me made me think of this 4 minute YouTube clip called "How to Talk Corgi" that I stumbled across a few days ago:

I haven't had or seen a Corgi with that range of language but I can recall all the kinds of phrases.

I love that video. And, Duncan must have watched it while I was at work. He does every one of those "voices"

Our Pem Gizmo likes to howl. Often before we take him out, he'll stretch and give us a little one. He'll also howl after he finishes a meal. It seems like an expression of pure pleasure and gratitude. On the flip side, sometimes he moans loudly when my husband leaves him inside the house with me. I loved that video.

I first saw that a while ago when watching my aunt's corgi. He didn't seem to mind much until the on screen corgi started whining. He poked his head up and looked around a bit, but I think he was a bit too sleepy to care.

Someday, I'll be with you, dear corgi!

CDs for dogs has hit the Xmas market in New Zealand.
Only dogs can hear clearly the ultra high pich of the music.
Your Corgi can hear a tiny part of the CD by you going to The Dominion Post: local, national & world news from Wellington's daily newspaper and clicking onto A very Silent Night under the dog pic.

Interesting!! I played it and Colby sure could hear it as he was right by me on the couch and his head was cocked to the side and he was looking weird....not too sure if he liked it or not but it sounds like a cool idea to me...

I played the dog version and I didn't get any response from Cody. I played the people version and Cody said What the heck? I had the volume high. I stopped it.

If your Corgi reacts and doesn't crawl into a small space, buy a copy of the full CD! Taylor was on my lap and he did turn his head and look interested, though when he is on my lap in front of the computer, he expects me to direct one of his front feet onto the key board so he can make words and be creative.
My sister promises to buy Taylor a copy of the CD for Xmas. She's coming up for Xmas lunch so she'd better.

I couldn't get the "silent" version to work. I know I'm not supposed to be able to hear anything, but when I hit Play the bar did not move at all, and the Play Arrow did not change to indicate it was playing. On the version we humans can hear, the player bar did move to the right while it played and the play button changed from an arrow to two vertical dashes (indicating "in play").

If it was playing, Charlie had absolutely zero reaction...so I don't think it was working correctly.

It seems you have got to 'play' around with the 'controls' a little for it to work eg clicking onto play several times when lined up to start.
