Dog Sitting Today - 04-11-2008, 11:32 AM

Charlie's having fun with his terrier-mix playmate Willie today. My friend who has been between jobs and walking with us is running errands today before she goes to start her new job Monday. She asked me to babysit a few hours.

I took Charlie and Willie out for our walk. First time I ever walked two dogs at once, but they both behaved pretty well, though Willie is a bit of a puller.

Anyway, we're having fun. Making me think maybe a second dog is in our future (maybe next year).

Thank you, Matt! Charlie is a generally happy dog, but he is extra happy to see Willie and other canine friends. Willie is around 2 years old, and is helping teach Charlie adult manners, and Charlie is teaching Willie that playing with other dogs can be fun. Willie came from a shelter a few months ago, and may not have played with many dogs previously. But he and Charlie have become good buddies. They got to chase each other around the yard, got walked, got milk bone treats, got brushed, and napped together. It was a great time!

Chris,

These are too cute. Charlie looks extremely proud and pleased to show off his pal. Sounds like a great time was had by all.

It was a lot of fun to have them both here. Charlie lets Willie take the lead-dog role most of the time...after he eggs Willie on to "Chase me, chase me, chase me!" After they had a good FRAP or two, Charlie was perfectly happy to have Willie egg me on to "Pet me, pet me, pet me!" Willie is much more of a human attention monger than Charlie.

Willie's mom had a bit of a delay on her new job start date, but did start back to work this week, so we lost our walking buddies. Anyway she did give me permission to come get Willie to walk with Charlie and me if and when I wanted to. So I took "the boys" out today. It's amazing how well Charlie walks with a second dog along...though I think he was paying more attention to Willie than to me.

I brought both dogs back for a short off-leash play session and FRAP in our yard before walking Willie back around to his house. A good time was had by all!

Willie's mom had a death in the family (her father) and will be driving from TX to VA for a week, so I've volunteered to keep Willie from this Saturday to the following Friday. Sad circumstances, but I think Charlie will enjoy his best friend's visit and I'll have the opportunity to see if I really want more than one dog at some point in the future. Your thoughts and prayers for Willie's mom are appreciated.
