I gave away my quilts except for a couple of wall hangings so what I have taken is a picture of a picture soooo may not really show up but here are 3 I've made. Sorry about the glare
1st one is a miniture season sampler - house squares are 6" blocks - this one hung at work as my window - the greens & greys dont show up well = the winter house has a grey poca dot to represent snow and the falling leafs down the right side represent the life cycle of the leaves but colors aren't showing up here. 2nd is 1st full size I make for my sister Penny (thats her behind the quilt) it's a jewel box pattern - It took forever! the back of it is in the left hand corner 3rd is a baby quilt I made for a friend's 1st grandson. Pinwheel with cowboys print as main background.

T-Gal,
Are you talking about the Yellow and purple one in regards to asking what pattern it is?? A computer wizard is something I am not(my husband will attest to that). There are flaws in my quilts, but I won't point them out. I do tend to rip things out if they don't match, but I am trying to get over that!! I once put a pieced border on a quilt going in the opposite direction of the other 3 sides - I didn't even notice it until it was all quilted!! - thank heavens it was a small pieced item! I love the first one with all the little blocks, a maple leaf, a flag, the pinwheel block and the bears paw(I think), plus the little flowers and the cute little houses. I also have the jewel box pattern in a book and...one of these days I will make one. That is a neat quilt that you made and I like the colors. I love the cowboy print theme for a little boy.I purchased some cowboy prints last year from our quilt shop - I just couldn't resist and someday it will be put to use. linda Last edited by corgimom; 08-04-2006 at 10:32 PM. |

My bes quilt instructer said the Amish always include a flaw because only God's work is perfect... she also said if you don't point out the flaw no one will notice except maybe another quilter AND a good quilter would never "notice"!
I was talking about the one to the right of Cody. I am going out of town for a few days in about an hour so I wont be able to check back for a few days. talk toyou soon

You are so right about the Amish - we have a somewhat large community not far from where I am and I have read that about having a "flaw" - also that before you give away a quilt as a gift, you are supposed to sleep under it for one night - this is supposed to pass on "good luck".
Twice a year here, we have a huge Amish Quilt Auction and people come from all over. Lots of quilts are made by the Amish, but also, made by other woman from all over the United States and then shipped to be auctioned off. It is a day long event starting out at around 7 a.m. and ending around dusk. If one can happen to make it until dusk, you can usually pick up a nice quilt for a decent price. They usually auction off around 500 quilts - plus you get to get all that good Amish bakery. I honestly cannot remember the name of the quilt you are talking about, but I will search my books when I get time. Have a good few days off. linda |

Quilts
Here are all my "works in progress" which means pieced but not quilted, I guess if I put aside 1/2 hour a day to work on these, they may be finished in the year ???? They have been put away for so long, they all have wrinkles. I refuse to make new ones until these are all done. I think I have close to 20 unfinished ones!
Shelly, I have been quilting for about 23 years. linda Last edited by corgimom; 04-04-2007 at 10:58 PM. |
