Barbara,
A most beautiful yard you have there - I am envious. It is well manicured and everything looks very healthy. Your porch area looks quite inviting. I love the statues, I am on my way over because It looks like a great place to relax. linda Last edited by corgimom; 07-14-2006 at 11:26 AM. |

My husband built a ramp going out our patio door 2 years ago for my last
pem when she had problems going up and down the steps outside. We still have it with no plans to take it down. During winter time, it was easier for Cody to go outside, rather than try to use the steps outside which become very icy in the winter time since that side of our house faces North. Linda |

Barbara, what an absolutely beautiful garden you have and I am delighted to see some of it. I am afraid that Abby the Corgi Ruffian would rearrange it very rapidly, also my aim with the beloved ball is not very good . ................
This is a photo of part of Abby's back yard, and a couple of pics of some of the visitors that Abby is not sure if they are friend or foe. Sadly, as I mentioned in another thread, we are still in drought - Level 3 water restrictions - hoses not permitted for any purpose, buckets only, and probably soon to go to Level 4 - no outside use of water at all. Yeah, Barbara. Corgis just love helping with the gardening. They really do love it when their human mums and dads are out there in the garden and mucking around. It is one of their joys of life. It is like a togetherness under the sky within the boundaries of the jointly owned and monitored castle (property).
Wouldn't Taylor like to be in your garden surroundings. He would appreciate it just as much as I would. Last edited by Michael Romanos; 07-16-2006 at 02:49 AM. |

Katc
for being on water restrictions, your grass is quite green - looks very nice. Underground sprinklers are common where I live and once you have them, you won't want to ever live without them. However, come fall, the water bill is quite a shocker. Linda |

Alas, that photo was taken before the water restrictions. The grass actually is green at the moment because we have had a few small showers and it does recover quickly, but the shrubs and creepers are really suffering and I have had to cut some of them right back to give them a chance. Luckily I have quite a few Australian Native Trees which can withstand drought, shall have to look at replacing some of the others with waterwise plants. My front yard is a total disaster.

That's one thing at present we don't pay for directly - water. It is "free" and unrestricted. There are a few areas in NZ where garden water sprinkling is limited in mid summer to certain hours and every second day - but not where I live. In those areas though, a hand held hose is tolerated at any tme.

One of our country's greatest gardeners has Corgis! Tasha Tudor has free roaming dogs in her garden and features them in her books. Watching many garden shows I see a lot of Corgis who are allowed to walk among the plants. Is it because of their short stature that they aren't destructive among the foliage?
The only problem Duchess has created, was to want to dig a hole near the foundation to unearth chipmunks. I keep her on a lead in our yard anyway but like to give her the thrill of the hunt. |

I love seeing all the gardens! Wow, Corgimum, you really have a nice garden, and Kat, what pretty birds!
My dogs have the run of my fenced in backyard, so I don't even attempt to garden it. They like to dig and leave paths, so I focus on my little space in my front yard. I do have a little baby bunny that hangs out in my front yard. I try to get Gizmo to chase it, but by the time I get his attention to look in it's direction, it's run off to the neighbors. This little guy has been nibbling on some of my flowers, so I try to let it know there's a dog around, maybe it'll stay at the neighbors. Here's a picture of my garden helper and my English Lavendar. I bought this lavendar as a little tiny plant, and it took me awhile to figure out how to trim and care for it. This is it's 3rd year, and I love it! The yellow flowers are some of my day lillies, the blue tuff of grass thing in front of my lavendar is Blue Fescue. I hope this picture works, this is my first attempt to post a picture on this site.
