I thought the same thing when Jeni mentioned the neighbor coming over - not fun for you....
and I have to add two more pet peeves. I have a friend that calls and she has "call waiting", and will put me on hold throughout the conversation to take calls from other friends(non emergencies, because she has called ID and can see who is calling)UGH! I once hung up and acted like we got disconnected, but she still didn't get it. And people bringing toddlers and babies to "adult only doings" |

Wow! I didn't realize I had that many pet peeves until I read everyone elses and agreed with ALL OF THEM! Especially the grocery cart one. I absolutely hate it when people don't put their carts back. How hard is it anyway! Being on time is important to me - hate it when people show up late. Babies crying or screaming - ugh. Parents who take their kids to R movies because they don't have a babysitter! And phones going off in the movie!!!!
Most of all - people who speed through school zones!!! I am a teacher and I see this all the time. How hard is it to slow down. Once I was driving to school and hit a school zone, so I slowed down to 20 mph. Well, this car behind me decided they didn't want to wait for me so they passed me in the school zone! The worst part - the driver was a little old lady - When I honked my horn at her - she FLIPPED ME OFF! Can you believe that! |

In our area there is usually one police car in each school zone so you don't see to much of that. Speed limit is 15 mph.

Yes, I remember you talking about the poop stations and personal trash being stuffed in there instead. |

oooh, I too have lots of pet peeves, makes me sound like a cranky, child hating person, but really I am not!
My biggest pet peeve, Badly behaved Children, when your three year old is having a tantrum @ the grocery store and finally you just give in and let her eat the chocolate bar, what have you just taught your child???!!!! Second "My dog just wants to say hi!" that just kills me....no, your dog comes running over barking and snarling, that is not saying hi. Dogs don't really like strange dogs in their face/space. Third What kind of cross is that?! <I know, it seems shallow, but I get that so much it makes me want to scream....the best one ever though was when I took Wicca to a Jack Russell Trial (I was judging) and lots of people thought she was a jack X...it was very funny....> #4 People who litter. Esp. when there is a garbage can ten feet down the path. And I am sure there are more but those are the main ones....

Okay... quick address here. Babies cry... short of becoming a full time hermit there is no way for me not to have a crying baby in a store at some point in life. Granted, I hate those who allow their children or babies to cry unaddressed in restruants... but for those of us who do address the issue and either leave temporarily or change our order to go it is unfair to bulk us in with everyone else.
As for the movies.... in my opinion babies and children have no business being in a theater before three years of age... and then only to very child directed movies where you know there are going to be 50 other screaming kids before you even go. I definitely agree no children should even be allowed IN a theatre playing a R rated movie. If I want to go to the theatre for a more adult movie that is when we spend the extra dough for a babysitter. Aside from that little rant, I basically agree with all the above rants. My big one atm is that I have two neighbors who have decided their Chihuahua's don't have to follow the same rules as other dogs... they let them run loose all day. I watched the one from across the street almost make an old man wreck his bike the other day because the dog came running out barking and growling and the old man was worried about hitting him. Not to mention all the mini-poops I have had to clean out of my yard because of it. Grrrrr -Cheryl Quote:

I am going to give my 2 cents here. My two kids are almost 15 and 17 and I remember very well what it was like to be in a store with a whiney screaming toddler/preschooler. I would leave the store and go home.
Before I had kids, I also thought "those kids were brats and had bad parents" Well, your perspective changes when those kids happen to be yours and believe me, it happens to just about every parent at some point. Now when I am in a store and hear those babies/kids. I just sort of smile to myself because I "feel" for the mother and can understand; I have been there. And by the way, they become teenagers and then the real fun begans.

ok I have no trouble with small children at restaurants geared to kids- mcdonalds, burger king, chuckie cheese and such, but when I go out to a nice meal at an expensive restaurant at the 8pm hour the last thing i want to see or hear is a crying baby...that is the kind of place that you should be getting a baby sitter and leaving your baby at home, or changing your plans to go to a place like chuckie cheese where you wont disturb people trying to have a nice quiet romantic evening out. I agree with Susan that when you give in to a kid having a tantrum and they get their way, they have learned that they can just throw a fit and get their way. Removing them from the situation is the way to go...this way you dont bug everyone around you AND you dont give in to a screaming child trying to strong arm you. Just my opinion.
And as far as people who dont pick up after their dogs, that is still one of my number one pet peeves ever. Emilie |

Well Linda: I have to agree with you once again. I have raised four and now when I see other parents trying to cope with overtired children, crying whining throwing a tantrum I just smile sympatheticly and go about my business. Yes teenage years are really taxing on parents but then they reach adulthood and you are best friends for life (although you still worry) and then there are grandchildren that you get to spoil and send them home to their mamas.
