I did have a long-winded intro, didn't I??? Panda caused all kinds of mystery and comment. Seems that a Pem/Cardi X is considered a desecration of the breed and I was taken by complete surprise at the controversy.

Panda's 4 pups were super-cute ... Border Collie coat & pricked ears ... Corgi dwarf legs ... 3 brindle & white ... 1 red & white ... all kept their white-tipped tails. They had already been spoken for when I finally made the commitment to adopt Panda. I will post a pic in my "Panda Album" of Panda's red & white pup & of Woody our collie. Panda's previous owner named her, but their 6-year old daughter called Panda "Pooh Bear", which is what we also call her. I keep the name "Panda" as a precious commodity that I use when I really need to get her attention. Moss is our son's dog and Panda's best dog-friend. Moss and Panda were born two days apart. I adopted Panda when she was 11 months old and already a hormonal post-partum teenage mother.

you built your own house?! how cool is that?
i'll have to do some research on your first posts... hee hee.
IMO, if its only 2 dogs, and you know what they are, its not a mutt. ( and i still contend her parents are both cardi's...)
Like Maggie was a husky/blue heeler.
    Lydia is lhasa/terrier/whoknowswhat/ spare parts.
Lydia is a mutt. Maggie was not.
    thats just me tho.

I have wanted a tri colored Collie since i was 5! i think they are so pretty.
my mom had a tri colored sheltie who was drop dead gorgeous. he really was the 'perfect dog' and he was her soul mate.
    corny as that sounds.
Dh asks me if i want another red, tri or sable for the next corgi. i am so partial to tri's and maybe its cause i liked collies for so long.
can i see a pic of your tri color?!
i see other tri's on the album page, and i still think mine is the prettiest.
    i'm biased...

A writer?? Thanks for the compliment ... but, no, I am not a writer ... hhhhmmm, although I edited a monthly newsletter once. Tee Hee! Nope, no papers on Panda since she is a Corgi-cross, or as some folks would even venture to say ... a mutt. I rescued/adopted her from the sister of my sister-in-law. Panda's history is interesting ... you read about her checkered past in my very first posts on this site. I caused quite a doggie detective story with my first post. The size of our house is just an illusion ... it is actually quite small, with a vaulted ceiling and loft that make it feel larger. It is a log house that we built ourselves on the ranch where my husband's family has lived for 5 generations. Life is good.

I love Sanka's sweet black-headed tri face. We have always had tri-color collies and our current pooch is going to be 13 on Halloween. Tri's have a very, very special place in my heart.

The more I learn from this site about the differences between the Cardi and Pem, I am convinced that Mattie is a Cardi. Right after I adopted Panda, I joined GoCorgi to get hooked up with folks "in the know" about Corgis. Both Peggy and Debbie said that Mattie was all Cardi, no Pem in her. I was told by the breeder that Mattie is all pure Pem, but I have no proof of her ancestry. I want to have a chat with the breeder to see if I can get more clear info.

I do love Panda's brindle color ... very unique! She definitely is a show stopper whenever we are out and about. The little girl is my precious 4-year old great-niece and best girlfriend, Amelia. Thanks for the post ... I love talking Corgi! And I really enjoy reading your posts ... you have a terrific sense of humor ... and a refreshing honesty. Your story about poor Dax made me very sad ... your adventures with Sanka make me giggle!

Yup, I have learned from this site that Cardigans do come in red and white. Panda's Mom, Mattie, is supposed to be pure Pembroke and her Dad is supposed to be pure Cardigan. But after comments about this photo made on this site and my own research, I now see 100% Cardigan traits in Mattie. Although she has no tail. My dog, Panda, is considered a Corgi-cross. But if her Mom is indeed a Cardigan, then she would be all Cardigan, right????? Although Panda's tail was also docked at birth ... for which I am still in mourning. Thanks for your comment! We sure do think that Miss Panda Pooh is cute too!

Not only was Sooner "crying", he started howling. Full out throw-your-head-back loud, mournful HOWLING! I don't think Sooner enjoyed kayaking very much! =( We're going to try calmer waters, no rapids this time and see what happens!
