ColColt ~ I agree with you. I teach school (1st grade) and you sure can tell which kids are disciplined at home. My poor son (24 now) skipped school one day when he was a freshman. We would not write him a note to excuse his absence. He was also told that if he skipped school again, he would ride the bus to school everyday for the rest of that year and that he would eat lunch in the cafeteria (he came home for lunch). He said he'd ride with a friend or walk and my husband informed him that he (hubby) would follow the bus to school to make sure he rode it to school. My son did not get away with much. We made sure that he was someone who had good values and treated people/animals with respect. He is such a great person today! Married, good job, etc.

Yep-that's what I'm talking about. I remember when I was in the 7th grade me and two other guys decided during lunch period that we'd go into the bathroom and have a smoke. Our teacher, (unbeknown to us) was walking down the hallway and smelled it coming from the door. We were later beckoned to the principals office who, by the way, had been a former wrestler and weighed around 24o pounds and was about 6'-4". We got our rear ends busted for that..about 3-5 licks best I remember but, it felt like ten times!! We went around for the next hour rubbing our hind ends as it felt like fire.
Another time that same year me and the same two guys were called into his office for using "profanity language". None of us knew what that was but we found out! 3-5 more licks. When I got home, my Mom found out about it and gave me a "whoopin'" again! I learned hard but it stayed with me and now I'm a model citizen!! It didn't kill me nor warp my mind in any way. Personally, I think we could roll back the clock and administer a bit of that again today. Who knows...perhaps it would actually work.
