Valentines Day Storm - 02-14-2007, 10:31 AM

It's Official, we are having a storm. The university is closed for the first time in years. We were suppsoed to get 8 inches over night - got 5-6. Today is suppsoed to be the worst, we should get another foot. According to local news we have 8 inches so far.

Dogs are having a blast. Tuck loves the snow but Lulu is just crazy about it! We are holding my puppy sitter's dog hostage during the storm so I thought I'd post a few pics!

Susan, they look like they are having a blast! and you got the day off, yipeeee! I am home and staying here, no snow, all sleet and really accumulating - 16 degrees out with a windchill of -6 degrees! I wish it was a little snow.. Dillon still had fun eating this sleet...

Glad to hear it isn't too bad yet. Oswego is really getting it bad and I heard my old area "Watertown" was also getting it really bad. Hope it blows over soon.

Susan,

They look like they are having a blast - and you get to enjoy a day off.

No snow my way, just clear blue skies today, but cold.

We got the same as you Susan - still are in fact - it should be about 10 inches by tonight. We are also under a wind - chill advisory - it's about -6F with it right now!

My two were going nuts in the snow this morning! Jem's never seen snow like this! It was like trying to walk giant jumping beans!!

Looks like Charlie is having a pretty good time for a hostage!!!

We got pummeled by the storm here in Illinois too. We got about 2 inches of ice/sleet before getting 5 or so inches of snow dumped on us too. They actually closed down the two major universities near here which hasn't happened since the late 70s (before I was born). Needless to say, I have had the past two days off from work--one of the perks of being a teacher
Anyways, your dogs looked like they were having so much fun, I tried to post a picture of Dudley going through a large snow drift, but I can't figure out how to lower the resolution on a picture

Milo and I had a snow day yesterday! We got between 6 to 8 inches, the only bummer is that we got a good layer of sleet/ice so the snow is so hard you can walk on top of it!

Milo tries to dig through and wants to roll and make snow angel puppies but, it is just too hard. What a bummer. The roads are still icy treacherous and a bear to negotiate. It is 13 degrees and not sunny, just windy and overcast.

I think Duchess was trained not to poop in paths and plowed areas. So we had several tries before she gave in and did poo on one side of the driveway, last night. She couldn't walk in the snow until this morning when the crust was strong enough to hold her up. Then I could not follow her down in the woods so she had a nice walk dragging a short lead.
First thing she does when she goes out now, runs to the bird feeder and hunts the mice/moles that live under the snow. Duchess has a very good sense of where to find them. I don't know if she smells them or hears them under the snow.

Lulu mastered "snow frapping" last night. If it weren't so cold, my eyes probably would have produced tears!

She was ruinning at full speed smack into snowbanks! She'd bouce off, run full speed into another one! She thought she was the funniest thing! Then she'd run up, into the deep snow, then backward flip back into the driveway! What a hoot. I only wish I had a video camerea. She was a riot!

Tucker has far more serious things to do like attack the shovel until I throw a scoop of snow at him!!!! He looked like a walking snowman.

But one great thing about deep snow! My two are so clean and fesh smelling!!!! They are actually white again!!!!!
