In the trash now, but lucky for us no illness here.

Oh, Emilie - I agree completely. I don't know how people feed their dogs raw food. I would worry every time I fed my dogs raw meat - I mean, you never know what happened in the processing plant!

My Lab, Tess (the one who lives with my Mom), once licked up some raw chicken juice off the kitchen floor (before I could get to it) and had digestive issues for like 10 days. It was awful!

Nope, not at all. It's only a couple of brands made by the same company. Not all peanut butter.

While it is popular it's not something most of us eat every day. Popular yes, but not necessarily in the daily diet.

And I don't think it's the most favorite food item you can buy. Very common, but I doubt the "most favorite".

One school in NZ has banned peanut butter sandwiches because a couple of the pupils are very allergic to peanuts and so the school thought it best to keep all forms of nuts away from the school.
Many schools in the US have banned all peanut items in the schools too.

Bethany had a jar of the low carb peanut butter that was recalled. She had eaten about half of it and then donated it to Ace in favor of some all-natural brand. Fortunately neither Ace or his Mom have been ill because of it. Bethany did use the peanut butter in the birthday cake she made for Ace and his friends, so I guess we were lucky. It would have been a terrible way to thank all of Ace's doggy friends from coming to his party!

After hearing about this on the news the other day, I had just bought the previous Friday, a jar of Peter Pan smooth. Sure enough as I checked it the code #2111 was there . No problems but, it got canned anyway. I took the lid with the number on it to the grocery store where I bought it and they would give your money back on the purchase. Maybe this is a ploy by the other companies to put Peter Pan in a bad eye in order to sell their products. I found no Peter Pan at the store yesterday but, plenty of JIF. I had to buy one, of course. A house without peanut butter is like a day without sunshine!

My jar of Peter Pan PB just got tossed into the trash, now Izzy and Frodo are pouting

Frodo is raw fed, but everything is frozen for at least 2 days before he is allowed to consume it. I don't worry about the raw meat any more than I do about the kibble. The Diamond pet food killed a bunch of dogs in December 2005, and all the raw meat that is fed to Frodo was distributed for human consumption. No worries here

Bonnie - that ink was in your salad so that you could write a complaint to the health authorities. I hope you took the matter to its conclusion rather than let the restaurant get away with it.
Peggy - just take a look at Dogster some time a see what the favourite treats of USA dogs are and invariably you will come across PEANUT BUTTER. Must be as common as dust in most households.

Michael - Unfortunately we are not sue people and I have had opportunities before. This time I was very tempted to contact the authorities.

If my dogs could talk, that is what they would say!! Peanut butter is a staple around here.
I can't say "peanut butter" or even "PB" without seeing pricked-up ears!

Bonnie - it is not your fault. It is the American culture thing: to sue. No, I was more thinking about the restaurant been held responsible to get its house in order so that other people wont suffer similar neglectful behaviour, and for you, the victim, to at least receive an apology and maybe a meal on the house.
