"AAFCO is not a government agency but an organization".Then further down the paragraph it says that" although the literature from AAFCO states that this organization is composed of employees of state, federal, and provincial agencies, it's membership directory includes representation from a number of pet food companies. (AAFCO) Members include Heinz Pet Foods, Bil Jac Pet Foods, Nutramax, Purina, and the Iams company, Nutro, Kal Kan Foods, and the American Nutrition Company, a company that makes a number of no name and store-brand foods. The roster also includes members from the rendering industry, and the Pet Food Institute."

I know we have beat the AAFCO dead horse to death but I saw this posted on a different site and thought you guys might be interested in seeing this as well.

We all have discussed this at great length so I dont feel like getting into it again but just wanted to provide the info.
