Millan features Corgi - 08-29-2007, 09:29 PM

Celebrated Cesar Millan has a new TV series of 35 episodes starting on September 7. On Sept 14 featured is a Corgi named Jordan who is overly protected by another, bigger dog.
The channel for Cesar's new series is 8P EST/PST.
Cesar's grandad who died aged 105, taught a young Cesar the basis of what he knows about dogs. The leadership thing and how to get harmony and peace among dogs and the dog-human relationships etc

Maybe it will be a great promotional opportunity for the LCS.

Oh no, not the LCS. I haven't heard too much about them lately ;0)

Cindy and the crew

(oops-can't wait for the first one of my new puppy owners to get a hair cross wise and try what ever it is he does with their dog--trouble brewing there!)

opportunity for the LCS?

Can LCS be defined?

Is Cesar Millan still going to be on the National Geographic Channel, that I don't have on my TV?

I would like to watch some of the shows, but I don't like all his methods.

Yeah, what is LCS?
Cesar had a three hour programme on National Geographic - which I never saw. But the channel I mentioned in the first post of this thread for his 35 episodes, is unknown to me.
I mist say that a few of Cesar's methodology is better applied to medium and large size dog breeds than to Corgis and other small breeds.

At obedience class the other night, they showed a method of teaching your dog not to bite by holding their muzzle (after they have nipped of course) and saying no bite. The muzzle was held until the dog submitted. Thankfully, it wasn't even attempted to be demonstrated on my Dale or we would have left as quickly as we came. The method probably works, I just think there are better ways to teach a corgi then using that type of method.

I don't think, Bonnie, that holding the muzzle of a Corgi that has bitten or nipped beyond what is normal, and saying "no bite" is a bad method -so long as the grip is 'friendly' and no shaking is carried out.

Michael-I've seen quite a few episodes of "The Dog Whisperer" and he covers a wide gamut of sizes and breeds to include Pomeranians, Malteses, Chihuahuas and even Yorkies with behavioral problems. With him, it doesn't seem to matter the breed. His methods seem to work regardless the size.

I was more thinking about Cesar's 'tough love' methodologies which better suit the medium-large dogs who are more difficult to handle and are more physically imposing.
I exercise a 6 month old Lab three days a week and boy am I grateful when I can release her at a park. She has the pull and the strong desires to get at express speed to where there is water and grass and room to gallop and many smells and sticks for fetching. Compared to her the two Corgis who have occupied my other hand up til yesterday, are powder puffs.

Labs and Retrievers are beautiful dogs but very energetic. I think the laid back Corgi is more my style though I love to see the Golden Retriever, which is one of my favorites. The folks at the doggie bakery here have one in the store who greets people when they come in and although just a year old, he makes nearly three of Bubba. I think it's the coat and eyes I like so well with the Golden.

Labs are certainly powerful and energetic - but they are one big dog (albeit medium sized) that a Pem Corgi can outrun.
