I hope all of the board members and their families are safe and sound. We are only having some minor flooding and my thoughts are with all the people who have lost so much to these terrible tornados and storm.

There is an unusual summer drought in New Zealand at present. We could do with some heavy rainfall throughout the country.

Taylor, me and my wife and son stayed over at a beautiful rural homestay (private home) last weekend in the Wairarapa which featured two large ponds partially watered by natural springs. The level of the ponds were at their lowest ever. The large pond fish had died and native birds that had swum over the pond could now walk it. That's a little inkling how severe the lack of decent rainfall has become.

No tornados here, though on Monday we had severe thunderstorms. But Peggy was very considerate and is sharing some of her snow with us Iowanians! 14.5 inches is the official total, though the wind whipped drifts up to 4 feet tall in the front paddock/yard. Collies had to break trails for the cardigans. And no, the brussels and pom did not get to go out-I would have simply lost them. Dug them a small patch in the back yard for them to do their duty.

My heart goes out to the families of the people who lost their lives in the tornadoes (now at 55) and to the hundreds more who were injured.

Here in Austin, we're in drought conditions with daytime highs ranging from 65 to over 80 degrees. So much for my "winter" vegetable gardening. It's too warm.
