Agile Lulu - 01-22-2007, 11:52 AM

Tuck and Lulu went to his Christmas Party for his Agility Class. They had a fun course set up for all dogs. They even encouraged the puppies who aren't yet in class to take a run at the course. The basically set the bars on the ground and had them jump/step over.

Lulu wanted no part of crossing the bars on the ground (if Tucker were with her she would have jumped!). She walked up the Dog Walk, turned around and walked back down. We didn't even go near the Teeter or the A frame.

When we got to the tire, she layed down and started chewing on it! Yupm, that's my girl! Tucker pees on cones and Lulu chews the tires! What a pair!

Anyway, just as I was about to grab her and haul her off the course (everyone was waiting and laughing!), she gets up and jumps thru the tire.

In this picture she's giving me the "Where's my treaty?" look!

It is never too early to let dogs at least have a look at agility obstacles - so long as nothing is done to scare them. The dog walk is much easier for small dogs to tryout than the larger breeds who get their legs all over the place and generally fall off. The tunnel is the most fun thing - though this doesn't inc;ude the collapsible tunnel. It is certainly an advantage for the future to get a Corgi puppy 'long jumping' over a hurdle rail close to or on ground level.

Last Sunday I was helping and showing dog owners the rudiments of agility at the Paws in the Park event. None of the dogs had previously done any agility but it gave the owners a thrill when some of the dogs happily trotted through a long tunnel with a bend in it.
