Because we live in a townhouse without a fenced yard, we walk Orange Dogs a lot! Between my husband and I, we do at least 4-5 dog walks per day, usually 30 minutes per walk depending on weather. We figure it's good exercise for us, and good for the dogs!

Thanks for this poll, Michael. It was interesting to see how others exercise with their corgis and compare it with my Milo.

If I give my guys less than that per day, I end up with two very crazy, wild beasts running laps in my house....I work at a Boarding kennel so they get to come to work with me. We have a huge fenced in field that we play ball in 2 times a day- with a chuck it toy- so the ball goes farther. (I suck at throwing)

We used to bring Dex down for 30-40 mins every alternate days
(except rainy days). But since his limp, we cut them off altogether.
We play fetch or fly ball at home. Regardless, Dex would still frap
like crazy. He is bouncing with energy.

At the moment, Both my dogs could use more exercise... but along with my vote, I do try and take them some place exciting at least on the weekends. It will get better.

Cheetah - I don't know if you were number 50 or not in the poll - but I can now summarise the poll results and pluck out another from a whole list of items I have up my sleeve.

MY SUMMARY OF POLL
Exercise comes ahead of discipline and affection according to Cesar Millan.
Proper exercising of your Corgi is a major player in the proper care and management of your Corgi and with regard to the bonding and partnership stakes between them and their owner/handler.
A well exercised Corgi is a happy and physically and mentally contented dog - just as is a fit, trim human.
So the poll on exercising had an edge to it beyond being just a bit of entertainment.
The 12 percent of people who variously said their Corgi was self exercised or exercised two or three times a week are deluded if they think they are doing their dogs or themselves any favours.
Self exercised. Yeah, right.
Two or three times a week. What happens on the other five or four days - a shutdown, a shutout or a shutin?
The majority ( 47.06%) who said they give their Corgis around a 30 minute walk/run daily apart from playtime at home are generally likely to be cutting their Corgis short of the real deal.
And the ideal rates 37.25%% of the respondents. The 30 -60 minutes walk/run daily is more in line with Cesar Millan who says (normal, non-toy dog variety) require about an hour of quality exercise daily. And Corgis of course are no exception.
So the poll might suggest that half of all Corgi owners are not exercising their dogs sufficiently.
The poll covered Corgis over nine months old and presumably those people who own very senior/aged Corgis and Corgis with disabilities, did not participate.

Wouldn't the truly accurate summary of this poll be: The poll might suggest the corgi owners on Go Corgi who responded to this poll are not exercising their dogs sufficiently. The percentage of members who did respond might be interesting to know as well. To say that half of "all" corgi owners are not exercising their dogs sufficiently is not true.

Michael:
We have over 850 people on Go Corgi and only 51 people responded to your poll. I don't think that is showing a very accurate picture of how much the people on this website are exercising their dogs. It does show how many people are interested in participating in your polls. Also, Cesar Milan is not the only "dog expert" so his opinion is only one in many and some people don't put great stock in Cesar Milan. As far as your comment on self exercised "yeah right" if you could see Chip and Maybelle running laps around my acre yard several times a day you would note that is alot of exercise.

I will say that during the winter months, with some of us who live in the colder states, it is not always easy to get out and exercise our Corgis every day. Sometimes in the winter, we can have below zero temps and wind chills for days at a time, which makes it dangerous to be outside.
I think most of us have the best intentions and want to get out and exercise our dogs along with ourselves on a daily basis, but there are days where this is not always possible due to climate conditions that we have no control over.

I agree. It is winter here and we are getting temperature in the teens and below zero on many days (have you ever gone outside when it was so cold that it hurt just to breathe?). On those days, I am only able to take the dogs out in our back yard, which is fairly large, and they run and play in the snow. I have pictures up in the photo gallery of them both running around having a great time in the back yard in the snow. That is a daily thing, and I assumed the back yard was included in the "inside my property" thing. Anything in my house and inside my fence, even if it is outside, is technically and legally considered my property. On top of that, they still get to go for walks, and on days when I am off work, we go to dog parks, pet stores, hiking around lakes, etc.
But yes, I answered the poll accurately for me, because it is winter here. Hence the "it will get better." Spring and Summer will come, and we'll be outside all the time again. >^^;<
