Easter walk - 04-07-2007, 11:48 PM

The Wellington Welsh Corgi Walking Club's Easter Sunday walk when off better than I had expected. Because of the special day it was, I thought only me and Taylor would turn up. But we had eight Corgis and 11 people for the total of two hours re river trail walk and picnic in the park.

Clog's Rosie was not there but another Go Corgi member with his Pem, Kenobi was.

I produced a tennis ball at the park and only Zara, a tri Pem was a reasonable catcher of it but all of the Corgis apart from Taylor, chased after the ball for ball grabbing races. Taylor is a little aloof from these Corgi crew games.

All the Corgis left the many ducks and geese alone at the park but every other dog that turned up were surrounded by a whole crew of Corgis - as were any babies, toddlers and small kids.

I have added on Taylor's Dogster's page, a piece titled Love Hurts. If anyone would like to read this true and graphic account of Taylor's love life go to: Dog profile for Taylor, a male Pembroke Welsh Corgi and under The Times and Trials of Taylor you will find Love Hurts.

Michael,
It sounds wonderful. A fun get together. Thanks for sharing Taylor's Dogster page. What a handsome young man he is.

Taylor is a very handsome fellow, Michael, and I'm impressed with his credentials. You must be very proud indeed. I saw one of those hedgehogs at Pet Smart yesterday and almost bought one for myself...cute little things and I can see how they would have a blast with them. They're on the top of my toy list.

I am still jealous of your COrgi walking group. A wonderful idea Michael.

Tuck, Lulu, and I had our own hike on Easter Sunday. We had a few snow squalls between 9 and 10 am. I ended up with a good 2 inches of snow. But we drove up the road and less than a mile away was the dividing line where they had no snow.

So we walked, the dogs sniffed and played chase the stick, etc. We ended up w/ a walk thru Petsmart. You could toss a bowling ball and not hit anyone today. So they got lots of treats and lovins from the staff.

We picked up one of those Kong combs everyone has talked about and a new squeaky ball. No easter eggs but a nice day. I'm guessing it is nap time because the house is very quiet.....

Thank you if you have read Love Hurts because I think it is quite funny and all of it is very true.

Quite frankly, the WWCWC works because I make it work. But you only need one person to engineer these sorts of clubs and activities. The problem is, as it is with dictators, what happens to the organisation when the person running the show is no longer around or has lost his/her enthusiasm.

Taylor is one of those Corgis who seldom picks up one of his toys - even his favourites - unless a member of the family initiates it. So every so often I produce his hedgehog or whatever and we have some fun times i chasing, rolling, catching ( Taylor tries to catch the hedgehog with his front legs and sometimes succeeds) etc

Clog's Rosie was not there....
Clogs and Rosie were naffing about further up-country at that stage - somewhere around Waiinu Beach, if I remember rightly, or possibly Ohawe.

Sounds like you all had great fun!

Ut was more eerie to me than great fun being Easter Sunday and me virtually sneaking out of the house. But the portion of the river trail that we went on and the park we picnic'ed at, had quite a lot of other people and their dogs also. Perhaps we'll have another Corgi walk etc on Christmas Day!

Thus reminds me of the theory that if you think people must be busy leading up to Chrismas with all kinds of functions etc to go to, invite them to a last-minute party and most will turn up. In other words, people are not as occupied and diary-filled as you think they are or they make out they are.
