Kittens - 07-14-2006, 07:23 PM

I know this isn't really corgi related but I thought you all would like to know that we now have 2 - yes -TWO - little kittens living in our garage. I noticed the mom and 3 babies in my driveway about a week ago (I was hoping they belonged to a neighbor) now the mom and one kitten have disappeared and the other 2 kittens have moved themselves into the garage. My husband bought kitty food today and I have posted ads for free kittens. Chip spotted them today (as they looked longingly at the house) and barked like crazy. He hadn't seen a kitten before. I am beginning to think I am running a Rescue after all.

Chips Mom,

Now I can't remember,

How many pets do you have right now? Oh, and little kittens, If I saw them,
they would be coming home with me - did they end up in your garage for a reason?

Will they let you handle them? If so, it would be great to help socialize them
before they go to their new home.

Linda

I have 4 dogs! Jasmine who I got at the shelter for a watch dog - she is 10 and is part rottie and she would watch people carry away the house. Lady, who is about 14, We got her when she was about a year old and had been mistreated by a 4 year old. She had 3 puppies an hour after we brought her home. She still has hang ups. Chip who we bought, and Lil Orphan Maybelle, the field puppy. the one gray kitty loves to be cuddled and it purrs. Can't tell if they are male or female. I can't keep them because my old dog, Jasmine will not allow any cats in the yard. Several years ago, she saw me get bit quite seriously "rescueing" the neighbors cat from my other dogs when it strayed in my yard.

Sounds like you have your hands full - hopefully, someone will come and take
the kittens. I wonder if the mom will be back?

Bonnie what was it you said the sign at the end of your driveway was again? Pawsitively Perfect Chip's Refuge for Abandoned and Homeless Creatures?
Best of luck with the kittens.

Debbie:

That is so funny - thanks though. Hopefully, I will find a home for them tomorrow or by the end of the week. One came to the house today, meowing.

Chips mom,

If you can't find them a home do you have a "cat rescue" organization near
you where they could help to find them a home? You could probably find a name of one on Petfinder if you put in your location.

That is a great idea - I will look today. My vet takes kittens in and finds homes for them but she is backlogged. I do have my name on the list though.

Yes, so many places are backlogged with new kitties - bless those Rescues and what they do fostering so many animals in their homes. The good thing is
that many test cats or kittens for the feline luekemia virus before adopting them out which would be a good thing for the new owner.

Good luck in getting them to their new home.

Oh Chip's Mom, you are a softie like me! Bless you for taking in all of those animals, and now two little kitties. I hope that you find good homes for them soon. I wish I could have kitties, but my husband is VERY allergic. Otherwise, much to his chagrin, I would be saying "SHIP THEM TO ME! SHIP THEM TO ME!".
