michael,
They were very very lucky to have survived.

Miss Gambler's mom- I think your plan to mostly stick to treats that are specifically made for dogs is probably the best plan- I have a variety of all natural treats for dogs for Dillon that i give him now and again ( reducing his meal slightly to compensate for the added treats so he doesnt gain too much weight) and we have a bakery here in CT called the Three Dog Bakery that makes all kinds of yummy all natural dog cookies. Now that we have the comprehensive list of no no foods, we should all be in pretty good shape. I am glad to hear that Miss gambler is feeling better.

Thanks for all the good advice about bad food for dogs! One lesson I learned is over feeding! I got a lecture from the vet 2 years ago that Milo was over weight and too young for that. So, I put him on a diet and he lost 4 pounds! Now he has a waist and the vet is happy too. It is not good for a long backed breed like a Corgi to carry extra pounds! Some times I make treats for Milo. Here is a recipe for Corgi Crumpets (from the Three Dog Bakery cookbook)
2 1/2 c cornmeal, 1 1/2 c white flour, 2 tblsp. vegie oil, 1 egg, 1/4 c honey,
1/2 tsp baking powder, 1 1/2 c water. Mix all ingrediants together, spoon into muffin pans (3/4 full), bake for 35 min. @ 350 degrees. It should make 24Corgi Crumpets. Sometimes I put a bit of peanut butter in the batter. Milo thinks they are wonderful!!

Thanks for all the nice thoughts, Miss Gambler is doing great, her good health was on our side. I'm going to bake up a batch of those crumpets, with peanut butter. I am in a much different frame of mind in raising Miss Gambler and I am very grateful to you guys and this site for helping me do that!

Michael: I have a handful of back issues THE BARK, all of this years, in case you can't get them. They have some of the best news articles, stories, and product info of any dog magazine I have found. If you want them, just let me know, more than happy to send them.

We have a Three Dogs Bakery here in town; along with another bakery, of which I cannot remember the name. The Crumpets sound good. I am assuming you can freeze the crumpets for later since the recipe makes such a large amount - or just cut the recipe in half.

Micheal,

I couldn't find your list from the health section. Please help...thanks

Eri - go to : My Puppy Ate Some Onions thread and scroll down to post number nine.
Any post of this kind needs to be as brief as possible because most members tire of anything that is a long drawn out read or the information gets lost among a word fest.

Linda,
Yes you can freeze them. I let them sit a bit and they get kind of hard but Milo likes that. I have a food vac and seal them up so they don't get freezer burn. I never halved the recipe but i'm sure it would work. I wish we had a Three Dog Bakery!

We have a three dog bakery too ( not in my town, but a 20 minute drive away) and there is nothing more fun (for me OR Dillon) than taking him there to be spoiled! The owner there gives him a cookie everytime he comes in, and he kneels down to pet Dillon, and give him special attention and then Dillon gets to pick out a toy ( they have some cool toys in my Three dog bakery store) and then i pick out a couple small cookies for him ( only three cookies - enough for two to three days) we learned our lesson after our first trip where i bought way too much and fed him too much and i wont be doing that again...I know where the store is and i can go back to get more if needed! What a fun place. Milo's mom I hope they get a three dog bakery in your area soon...fun place.

Miss Gambler's Mom - thank you for this post. Last night we ate out and they had wonderful little bread rolls with poppy seeds. As jasmine loves bread, my husband stuck a couple in his pocket for her and I said no she can't have them. I wouldn't have known that if you hadn't posted. So thanks again. Give Miss Gambler a special pat from me and Chip sends aroo kisses.

Here is the link if you want to see if there is a Three Dog Bakery near you.
We have one here, but it is not showing up when I click on Wisconsin,
so not sure how updated this info is.

I'm glad the dogs are doing better. Thanks for all the information on what not to feed the dogs. I had no idea that some of those were that dangerous for our dogs.

Thank you so much for posting the recipe. I am making some as I type this. So far Zip and Zia are loving them! I also sent the recipe to my in-laws as they have two very spoiled Havanese (sp?). Thanks again!

Chip'sMom: Maybe Miss Gambler became sick so Jasmine would not. Jasmine could have become worse, just musing, I believe in Karma like that. Glad all is well.
