Molars - 11-26-2006, 05:48 AM

Does anyone know when a corgi gets their back molars? Chip is chewing like crazy and stealing anything within his reach to chew. Corgimom - I did buy the bones and they are working out well.

Bonnie, I'm not sure but maybe that's Ace's problem too. I thought he got all his adult teeth but he is still chewing like crazy as well. I am curious to see the answer to your question! We also have tried the bones Linda posted about. Ace is doing great with the Red Barn one. The Merrick bone didn't work for him. He was able to bite off chunks of that one!
By the way - I really like your new avatar of Chip. There is great scenery behind him and he looks so handsome!

Thanks - that is Watauga Lake. We were on the boat yesterday for about 4 hours and it was beautiful weather. That is actually Chip's "watch" pose. I am in the background holding a piece of cheese in front of him and saying watch. He really doesn't like to have his picture taken. Maybe Debbie will post or someone knowledgable on this chewing.

Well Chip is very good at "watching"! Ace seems to be good at it too if I'm holding up a treat. These corgis will do anything for a snack!

You are exactly right. Chip has learned the nothing in life is free training to well so now he expects a cookie when he wants to come inside. Mind you, he is standing at the door waiting to come in when I open the door and runs in and out all day long. LOL

Thanks Linda that answered that question. Molars come in at 7 to 8 months of age so that isn't a reason for the chewing.

Well I wouldn't necessarily rule out it not being molars. Another thing is his teeth/bite may still be adjusting/shifting since his toofer surgery and that could be contributing to the chewing, maybe?

Thanks for the websites Linda. I guess Ace has all his teeth then since he's 10 months. I do worry about his constant chewing. I definately don't want him to chew so much that is dulls down his teeth or turns them into nubs!
