Is it too late?
When we take him out, or he is outside on the chain, and he sees another dog, he is a big chicken. for as feisty as he is, this surprises me. is it too late to socialize him? he is almost 3. thanks

IMO there is no reason he has to be socialable with other dogs. If he's happy with his human family as his pack that's just fine. He doesn't "need" to play with or socialize with other dogs. Personally I'd not worry about it. Unless there is another reason he needs to be around other dogs. Peggy

he dares not challenge Rocket..or thinks twice, cause he's no match for Rocket- and they both know it. Even if rocket is a big baby, he outweighs him for starters. rocket is a 80lb siberian husky. lydia he thinks he can kick around cause...well..he thinks he can kick around anyone. Lydia is 12 and too old to bother with a feisty corgi...he pulls her by her ears and jumps and bites her. just to be ornery. she could damage him, if she chose to, but 12 yrs of 'dont bite' finally paid off...and i think she just doesnt want to waste her time. if he picks a fight, she wins, but she'd rather not have to. he just thinks he's the boss... he knows he's not the boss of his pack, that dh and i are, the boys...he's not so sure. he is mellowing out a little.... Some dogs do not like and will not get along with other dogs. Yours might be one of those. In that case the choices are to put the dog in an only dog home or do what you have to to keep them seperated. Unless you know for absolute certainty that he will not bother another dog when you're not home NEVER leave him alone with them. Make sure he is securely locked up. In a crate or behind a door when you're not home. He may or may not learn to live with them. That doesn't mean he will like them or play with them but tolearte them. Maybe ignore them. Do what you have to to protect your older dog. Don't let him bully her or injure her. If that means they don't get to be together that's the way it is. Meantime you work on the problem. Keep a leash on him in the house is necessary. Don't allow him to push or bully any other dog in your home. Feed seperately as feeding is often what trigggers fights in corgis. Be careful with treats and chewies like bones. They can also trigger fights. Don't insist that he play with the other dogs. If he just gets along with them or ignores them that's fine. Peggy
