Katie's Head Marker - 04-02-2007, 06:36 PM

I just wanted to share a couple of pics I took with my Nikon a couple of months back of Katie's resting place and the head marker I had made for her. I haven't been back to see her to take any with my digital camera yet as it's still difficult but, what I did was just take a picture of a picture so you could see it. Notice the little red bells and the angel at the top. The white fencing was placed to keep nosy animals away until the grass could grow and keep them from wanting to dig.

I'll get back to take a few more with the digital camera but, all this was crossing my mind this evening and thought I would give taking a picture of those earlier pics a try. I love that granite marker and hope I never have to make another.

That's beautiful Colcolt - I'm sure that you must feel comforted that she is so close to you. I hope you aren't getting all sad this evening!!! Don't make me start another BBQ thread to cheer you up!

Or I know - how about I send Rupert to you for spring break? I think he'd really like you and he LOVES bbq. You could have some practice with a dog again and maybe get in the mood for one of your own. I'll put him on the bus for you so you can take him to the Tennessee Corgi picnic! I'll just pin his return address to his collar, pack his toothbrush and give him some lunch money!

Deb

ColColt ~ That is a wonderful memorial to Katie. I know how difficult it is. My cats are buried in my back flowerbed and my heart breaks everytime I walk by their final resting spot.

My Dig and Aladdin are both in our backyard but I haven't had the courage or strength to do anything with it yet. They are both under a big shade tree and I do have plaques and I would like to order a special one and plant some flowers - I just haven't been able to yet. The grass has grown there. After Aladdin died, Digger and Jasmine went down and sat there for the longest time and then they always avoided that spot after that.

Col Colt--What a beautiful way to remember Katie. I'm sure she appreciates it. I'm with Deb--I'll express mail Maya to you. She has a wonderful way of making her presence known by a smell of poo wafting from behind your sofa You could keep her until she is potty trained, and then I'd like her back

That is so beautiful, what wonderful memories of Katie you must have.

I still have our Thomas's ashes with me. I haven't been able to place them yet. It's been almost 10 years now.

They are always in our hearts.

I will think only happy thoughts of my first boy tonight, if you will only think happy thoughts of your girl. OK?

Naw-not getting sad, Deb...just reflecting a little. she was precious and I'll always love her.

Send ol' Rupe on down!! Me and the boy would have a hallelujah time playing ball and I could introduce him to some fine Southern cookin'. Like maybe hot dogs with chili, mustard, dslaw and but, I'd take the onions off for him since they're no good for him. Or, perhaps a big crock pot full of pinto beans with cornbread. Don't forget his slicker brush, frapping shoes and leash, BTW. I'm only about 20 minutes away from McGhee-Tyson airport and could be there to pick him up in sort order.

It's good to have them that close, Kristi but, that may be too close for me right now. It would be difficult.

Bonnie-I think animals know what's going on and I've even seen some who have nearly grieved themselves to death not eating. I think they know what's happened. They have feelings and I know the Basset Hound next door misses ol' Griz as she was with him 24/7 for her seven years before he died recently.

Unfortunately, I don't get 24, Deb. My channels only go to 15 and I get 77 (the History Channel). I'm going to make amends soon about that situation, though. You're right, I do miss her...daily.

Bring her on!! Rupe would like a frapping partner with Emma still in Canada. I'll have to keep the couch and chairs close to the wall so she won't be able to get behind them. Who knows-Rupe might think she smells like White Shoulders!! Loooool

You've got a deal Barbara.

Many thanks to all you wonderful ladies for you comments and concerns. I'm doing a lot better than back in November when all that happened. Perhaps some day, I'll have another Katie with a personality and charm close to hers.

Colcolt - Rupe's on the plane right now!! But I'm warning you - he's the Canadian Corgi Farting Champion and I think hotdogs, with chilli, mustard, slaw, pinto beans and cornbread might put him into the International League in short order!!!! Maya would have to wear one heck of a dose of White Shoulders to out do him!!

Hey, we all know what it's like to think about a loved pet we've lost - that's what we all were thinking about when you posted - it's a good thing - it proves they never really leave us!!

Deb

Some days it is difficult, but it makes me feel better that they are close by. It is so very hard losing one of our babies.
