This is the very first picture we took of Zia...about 15 minute after we got home. Hubby and I both are having a bad case of "corgi puppy fever." This is not really good since there is fixing to be a new litter of corgis here in town.

I remember all so well the first time I saw Duncan. There was a breeder close by that had 4 females puppies and 1 male puppy ready for homes. When I called to make arrangements to see them, I told him due to my work schedule, it wouldn't be until that Sunday before I could get out. He said he had 4 other people coming and they hadn't decided on what they wanted yet. (I had my heart set on a female.) Anyway, by the time I got there, the male was the only one left. Now, my husbands only job was not to let me take the first one I saw. That was his only job! He said as soon as the breeder brought Duncan out, he knew right then and there that dog was coming home with us. He knew I've been wanting another corgi for such a long, long time; he didn't have the heart to stop me from taking the first one. My husband said my face lit up like he's never seen it. The first words out of my mouth was "LOOK!!!!! His ears are standing up at 8 weeks!!!!!
So, within the first hour of his new home, Duncan managed to jump into the pond to swim, and take a couple of laps of beer out of my glass before I could stop him. He's my little hellion, but I wouldn't trade him for the world. He managed to make my cat loving husband of fan of dogs, especially corgis. My husband said he has never seen such bright, intelligent, thinking dogs in his life. In fact, he says there will always be dogs at our house now, and we'll probably due rescues.

I'm tickled that I finally figures out how to put Duncan's picture so everyone can see him!
Of course, this is when he was about 4 or 5 months old. Tell me, is it a law that corgi owners just have to have a picture of their dog looking up at them? I bet almost each and every one of us have a picture of our corgis looking at us like that, with that big corgi smile!!!

That's a great avatar Lou Ann - and yes, we all probably have a happy smiling upturned Corgi face photo in the thousands of photos we have of our pupsters!

Haha... I was the first to pick Checkers out of a group of four pups. They were calling him Jango Jr because his sire was Jango and they said he looked the most like his dad. There were 3 males and one female. The female was an immediate turn-off for me, if she had been the only pup left I would have walked out. All three of the males were okay, but two stood out for me. They both had similar markings... and the temperments were pretty close too. Of the two though, Checkers was the one that stuck with me the longest, even with all the other pups playing chase in the yard. I really had intended to just go and look that first time, but it didn't happen that way. Checkers came home with me that very night... my poor husband was at work and had no idea until he got home the next morning and saw the puppy kennel by the bed! Luckily it only took him one look at Checker's little sweet face to melt just as badly as I had. He was about 10 weeks old then. This is one of his first pictures with us....(note that is my husband's lap he is snuggling on hehe)

My son and I both fell in love with darci, she was so sweet and such a cuddler. Poor hubby was out of town and had an accident with a simulated smoke bomb, it blew up in his hand.
He had no idea that we were getting a puppy and didnt know until a friend drove him home with his hand all bandaged up and a little woosy from pain meds. Darci was in my sons room in her crate whinning, hubby says whats that noise..... hmmmmm... what noise ?????? LOL Lucky for me it was love at first sight for hubby too.

First sight of Pepper
We checked out the cardigan puppies at 4 weeks. There was a beautiful red that we didn't want to take because we were not breeding. The rest were tri's with large white stripes up the nose making the nose enormous looking. Then there was one with a little stripe. She had her head in the water dish edge. Some of the siblings picked on her. She was the one we chose.
Thank you SO much for this thread. I was finally emotionally able to get her puppy pictures out after seeing all the adorable ones here. Photo 1 - We got her at 6 weeks (yes ears up) Photo 2 - 8 weeks, still hungry Photo 3 - 6 weeks, first day. Didn't have the hang of sleeping IN the crate. Older pictures under rainbow bridge |

I have never met or knew what a Corgi was before I met Buta. She was unwanted & abandoned by my dad's friend due to her skin problems. The moment I saw her, I got quite a bit of shock.
Short stumpy sock like legs, huge ears, long body & no tail. We though she was tortured & someone chopped off her tail.... Her front legs were bleeding & sore due to her mange problem (which the previous owner did nothing at all for her) Her birth cert shows that she is a pembroke welsh Corgi & I seriously have never heard of this breed before as they are really rare in Singapore. I am glad we found each other she has widen my social circle in my search for a cure for her mange & increased my knowledge of this wonderful breed.

Awe this is a great thread. I love all the stories. I only saw pictures of Montana as she came from NC and I live near DC. Her breeder met us near our house to bring her to us. But as soon as he took her out of her cage I feel in love with her. She too is a little hellion most of the time but I love it. She makes me laugh when she does her cute bad things. Here are some of her first pictures we took of her.
