Smile Fun Night Time Outing at Petsmart - 02-22-2007, 10:18 PM

Wow, tonight was surprisingly fun! I drove Shippo to the nearest Petsmart just to walk around the store and work with him. We strolled around the store, I let him jump on the scale to weigh him, and then we curiously made our way to the back of the store where the training area was. A class had just been let out and two people and their dogs had stayed behind with the trainer. I walked past the enclosure, and there was some crude agility equipment set up! Curious, I asked her "Wow, are you guys doing agility?!"

She said they were just set up for fun, and then asked me if I'd like to try! Shippo has never seen agility equipment before. I figured it would be nice to show him a few of the obstacles, so of course I said yes! There was a pause table, a bar jump, some weave poles, and a tunnel. Shippo jumped right up on the pause table and laid down for me. It took him a few minutes to figure out the jump - he went under it at first, on the lowest setting!! The weave poles he figured out afer the second try, and I lured him trough the tunnel by throwing treats lmfao.

We had a lot of fun and he met two new dogs. I just though I'd share my fun night. I really need to get into an agility class!

That sounds like a really fun night! Maybe you should take Shippo to do some agility , sounds like he is a natural! We did an intro to agility class when Dillon was only about 8 months old ( no real jumping or weaving in this class- he was too young for that) and he seemed to like it but i couldnt do more with him then becuase he was too young and not fully developed yet and with the limping issue i had with him i didnt want to chance it. I would love to check him out now and see what he thinks.. He loved the tunnel...would run through it even when i didn't want him to ! LOL
so, did Shippo also get some toys or treats when he was there? after all you WERE at Petsmart!
