A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CORGI


This should be an entertaining subject and able to be imputed by the range of Go Corgi members.


In the nearest immediate past 24 hour day, allude to the things your Corgi did during that full day:

Five year old Taylor did these things yesterday:

1. Eat: he had his usual two bits of toasted grain bread as a breakfast treat; he had his usual Eukanuba biscuit around 12 noon and for dinner he had a few small pieces of raw broccoli, a few slices of cooked carrot, a slice of roast chicken, some diced cooked ox heart, half a cup of ProPlan Adult Lamb and Rice and half a cup of ProPlan Performance Chicken and Rice.

2. Play/exercise: He had a eight minute toilet walk around the block at 9.30am and at 2.30pm Taylor, my wife and son had an hour long walk or so on a local river trail with Taylor off-leash. At six pm he went into a frapping mood and got chased in the lounges and up and down the stairs, grabbing a toy along the way for some throws and catches. At 10.30pm he had a five minute toilet walk.

3. Sleep: He slept in my son's room in foregoing his bed beside me in my room.

4. Say: When surrounded by three German Shepherds at the start of the river trail walk, he told them to scram. And when they did he raced after them shouting all the way.

5. See: Along the river trail he met quite a few dogs and was polite and social with them all apart from one of the German Shepherds who was very unruly and one small dog on a leash who has an aggression problem. He met twin toddlers who gave him big hugs. He met a Pomeranian-cross on his 10.30pm toilet walk and both wanted to play but it was a little late at night for that.

6. Special place: the river trail area which meant a three minute drive in the car to get to.

1. what was your Corgi given to EAT.

Duchess had her usual 3/4 cup of kibble 2 tablespoons of moist canned food with a little water mixed in the bowl. Mornings she has 1 tablespoon of Pumpkin.
Lots of treats and small portions of food during the day. Loves to lick out containers from cottage cheese, yogurt, ice cream.

2. what PLAY/EXERCISE did your Corgi get and do.

Went for a walk sniffing and exploring down the rural road for about 15 minutes. Part of her potty break. Out a few more times during the day, a longer time off leash in the back yard where she disappeared when my back was turned. Fearing she had gone toward the neighbors property I began to call and shout for her. I didn't want to go on their land so I turned to go back and check in the front yard, I saw Duchess just standing a few feet from me saying "what do you want now"?

3. where did your Corgi SLEEP during the night.

Spent some time with my brother, as she goes to his room everytime I go out and leave her. She generally sleeps in my room on the floor at night but if there is food around she is with whoever has it.

4. what did your Corgi SAY.

This morning she told the White Cat that lives accross the road that she didn't like him coming on our side of the street and if she was loose she would do something about it. Our cat is the same size and also white but he is strickly a house cat.


5. Who special did your Corgi SEE.

Yesterday the Manx cat was spotted from Duchess's perch on our deck. He ran from Duchess shouting obscenities, but stopped as he realized his enemy was secured.

6. What special PLACE/AREA did your Corgi go to.

Saturday Duchess went to a large park, their policy is to keep the animal on leash. Still there was all the smells of going somewhere different. She goes to a park or field at least every other day.

7. what did your Corgi DO apart from the last six questions.

She had to endure being sprayed with Flea and Tick repellant, had some ticks pulled from her fur. Duchess growls but she has been pretty good about the necessity.

Turkey, broccoli, broccoli sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, yunnan paiyao, fish oil with a little kibble mixed in.

2. what PLAY/EXERCISE did your Corgi get and do.
Couple short walks around the neighborhood.

3. where did your Corgi SLEEP during the night.
Couch, after an extensive pillow re-positioning session.

4. what did your Corgi SAY.
Cant really tell through the thick accent.

5. Who special did your Corgi SEE.
Auto mechanic.

6. What special PLACE/AREA did your Corgi go to.
Managed to sneak into daughters room for a few hours before being discovered.

7. what did your Corgi DO apart from the last six questions.
A lot of sleeping.

1. what was your Corgi given tio EAT.

1 3/4 cups of Canidae ALS, split in two meals. Two biscuits.

2. what PLAY/EXERCISE did your Corgi get and do.

7-9am free play in the yard. (Retrieving balls and toys for me to throw, scouting the perimeter, searching for bugs in the grass, keeping the birds and squirrels out of his yard.)
10:30-noon 2.5 mile neighborhood walk
3-3:30pm free play in the yard
6-6:30pm 1 mile neighborhood walk
7:00-8:00pm free play in the yard

3. where did your Corgi SLEEP during the night.

In his kennel next to my bed

4. what did your Corgi SAY.

"Arroooo!" with his morning stretch upon rising. A friend stopped by during our evening free play. Chalie told him, "You're pretty scary looking. Those sunglasses on top of your cap's visor make you look like you have four eyes. Bark! Bark! Bark!"

5. Who special did your Corgi SEE.

A large human with four eyes.

6. What special PLACE/AREA did your Corgi go to.

The next door neighbors' house to see if his friends Baby and Samantha were there. The scary "four-eyed monster friend" accidentally let him slip out the gate when he was leaving. Charlie went straight to the neighbors' house for "back up".

7. what did your Corgi DO apart from the last six questions.

Wrestled with Tangent, the cat. Barked at Cosine, the cat. Got brushed, nails clipped and ears cleaned. Napped several hours in the recliner. Watched the final episode of Survivor.

What was your Corgi given to EAT?
Yesterday was puppy training class day, so in addition to his two meals a day, he got lots of treats during class and during a short practice session later in the evening.

What PLAY/EXERCISE did your Corgi get and do?
Yesterday was the first class where the pups were allowed to socialized with each other, so he played for most of class with a yellow lab named Maggie. Then we went to my brother's house and had a 2 hour free play session in his backyard with Bella, a 2-yr old American Bulldog.

Where did your Corgi SLEEP during the night?
He sleeps in the kitchen; I keep him kenneled in there with baby gates. He also has his crate in there that he sleeps in.

What did your Corgi SAY?
Lots of barking if attention wasn't on him 100% of the time that he wanted it. And lots of yelling at the cat, just for existing.

Who special did your Corgi SEE?
My brother and his girlfriend.

What special PLACE/AREA did your Corgi go to?
PetSmart and my brother's house!

What did your Corgi DO apart from the last six questions?
This struck me as funny. After puppy class, Roscoe was sacked out on the kitchen floor. I went upstairs to do some laundry, and while I was up there, I shut the hamper lid, which made a loud bang. I heard a tiny 'woof' from downstairs, so I knew he had heard the noise. When I went downstairs a few minutes later, he was hiding in the corner of the kitchen. Some watchdog!

1. what was your Corgi given tio EAT.

Since I am on a restricted diet I got some left over chicken pulled off the bone for breakfast. For dinner I had 2 jars of chicken and rice baby food that Sunkist had to try. I'm a hungry boy and didn't want to share with her.

2. what PLAY/EXERCISE did your Corgi get and do.

I chased Sunkist thru the house for about 20 minutes until I got too tired to play. Took Mommy D my Loofa dog to play, but wasn't really all that intrested in going to get it when she threw it in the other room.

3. where did your Corgi SLEEP during the night.

I love to sleep with my mommies. It is great fun to lay at the end of the bed taking up as much of their space as I can. Then they can't have any covers and try to move me. I always move back though.

4. what did your Corgi SAY.

I told my Mommy P to get that crazy kitty out of my food. Then I told her that I drank all my water and wanted more. I also told her that I want to go outside for a bathroom break.

5. Who special did your Corgi SEE.

I didn't see any one special yesterday, but today my Mommy D will take me to see my great granny and her friends at the nursing home for a little while.

6. What special PLACE/AREA did your Corgi go to.

I went in my crate for a while cause my mommies left to get me food and to play some poker with their human friends. I layed in my back yard for a little while when they got home.
