How to get Corgi puppy into her crate...

Here are some steps I use to get my Corgi puppy into her kennel at night.

1) Walk into tile room where dogs live, all 3 dogs follow.

2) Give command for dogs to go into their kennel.

3) Lock up other 2 dogs in their kennels after they go in.

4) Spend the next 5 minutes chasing Corgi puppy all over the house, after she ran out of the room when known command was given

Only five minutes? <LOL> My newest foster girl is 18 months and her nickname is Big Trouble in Little Corgi. <VBG>

Lucky me..Randy follows Leo into the bedroom and stands outside his crate until I toss his treat inside..then he hops in. Leo goes in on his own and stands at the crate door waiting for his treat (Leo is a good boy).

Well in fairness to Leelah, aka Big Trouble in Little Corgi <G>, she's spent at least the last two months of her life tied to a tree in someone's backyard (probably more), so she's learning about life as an inside dog, basic house manners and what it is like to have someone give her attention, structure and rules. Considering all that, she's doing okay.

How terrible. Why would anyone take a pet into their home only to neglect it? I'm so glad you have the means to take in rescues and have been able to give her a better, caring home.

What a sad story...what a happy ending! Good for you to give this one a better life. No dog should be tied to anything IMO, and I hate to hear that anyone could be mean to a magical Corgi. Bless all who's hearts go out to those in need. Wish I could save all the abused Corgis.

Both of our corgis go right into their pens pretty easy. But we did have some trouble with Ein when we tried to get him back into the kennel. He was in a kennel when we first got him but after awhile we just let him have the run of the house, and he did fine with that. But we put our house on the market and had to put him back in the kennel for when people were coming through the house. He didn't want anything to do with the kennel at all. So I actually got into the kennel with him a couple times (luckily it was big enough) to show him it was OK. He didn't have any problems after that. Unfortunately, the wife did get a picture of me in the kennel with him....

Nice. Your Ein is lucky to have such a big crate and an owner who cares for him so much. *g*

It was actually way bigger than we wanted to get, but I grabbed the wrong one at PetSmart. And by the time I got it home and realized it I had already tore the box apart and figured what the heck. It worked out.

You are a "good boy" to set such a good example. Great picture and you are a good sport. You look more comfortable in there than your Corgi does.

How big is that crate?

It's a great picture. I might try to fit in Gizmos now... You have sparked a new interest.

ha ha :P Yeah, Ein wasn't too thrilled initially, but it actually helped him. He at least started going in and checking it out after that.

I think it's about 42" deep, 30" high, and 28ish" wide. Obviously bigger than he needs, but he likes to sprawl out when he sleeps, so it works.
